The first poster in the Family Dog series is strictly printed in black, white, and grey. However, after the first poster was printed, artist Wes Wilson went back and colored one in by hand, signifying the color explosion that was to come with psychedelic posters. The photograph used on the poster was taken from a book entitled The American Heritage Book of Indians. Only around 250 of these posters were ever printed, so it is rare to come by today and is highly valuable.
