Cartoon Art MuseumMedia Release -- The Cartoon Art Museum hosts cartoonist Roman Muradov on Saturday, October 30, 2010 from 1pm to 3pm as part of its ongoing Cartoonist-in-Residence program. Museum visitors will be offered the chance to talk Muradov about cartooning and view his work. This event is free and open to the public.

Roman Muradov is an illustrator/writer from “cold scary” Russia. He’s the author of numerous short tragicomic stories exploring the themes of absurdity, depression, solitude, perversion and other essential aspects of modern life. In The Lonely Bear the decadent hero ponders over his loneliness so much that he grows a brain cancer, but becomes good friends with it. In Pancakes a man decides to fake his suicide and live peacefully in a grave, where he is shown hell (literally). Vacuum Cleaner, currently in progress for The Anthology Project is a story of a square-headed poet who goes through a lifetime of pain and suffering to get access to an empty room.

Other publications include; A Cave, (a silent retelling of Plato’s Myth of the Cave, self-published), Dead Fish (a world gone vegan, a landlord, morphine, Eva Braun, all somehow related, self-published), Antlers (a psychedelic coffee story, recipient of the Society of Illustrators Award 2010, published by Dark Horse)…and numerous short stories and strips.
