BATMAN: EARTH ONE SPECIAL PREVIEW EDITIONDC Entertainment and comic book retailers across North America are declaring Thursday, July 19 "The Dark Knight Rises" Day to celebrate the arrival of this summer's most anticipated film opening in theaters and IMAX ® on Friday, July 20. Fans who visit their local comic book retailer on July 19 will receive a free, special edition comic book featuring several exclusive previews of current and upcoming Batman comic books and graphic novels. More than 500,000 copies of the free Batman comic book will be handed out that day on a first-come, first-served basis.

The free Batman: Earth One Special Preview Edition comic book features the first chapter of the highly anticipated graphic novel Batman Earth One written by Geoff Johns and illustrated by Gary Frank, as well as a preview of Batman Vol. 1 The Court of Owls, the New York Times #1 best-selling graphic novel collection of the hit series written by Scott Snyder and illustrated by Greg Capullo.

"The arrival of The Dark Knight Rises in theaters is a seminal moment for comic book readers and moviegoers; what better way to mark the occasion than with a free Batman comic book that rewards a broad range of fans and taps into the unprecedented excitement surrounding this film," stated DC Entertainment Vice President of Marketing, John Cunningham.

The free BATMAN: EARTH ONE SPECIAL PREVIEW EDITION (MAY128064) is scheduled to arrive in stores on July 18, to be put on display on July 19 for "THE DARK KNIGHT RISES" DAY.

North American retailers will receive the BATMAN: EARTH ONE SPECIAL PREVIEW EDITION free in quantities approximately equal to four times your orders at FOC on BATMAN #10 (APR120193).


In addition to the BATMAN: EARTH ONE SPECIAL PREVIEW EDITION, retailers will also receive the following items in support of "THE DARK KNIGHT RISES" DAY:

• THE DARK KNIGHT RISES MINI ONE-SHEETS: Retailers will receive four new 11" x 17" mini-one sheets for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. These will arrive in stores weekly starting on June 13. Each features one of the characters from the movie.

• THE DARK KNIGHT RISES ONE-SHEET: On July 11, you will receive a 27" x 40" one-sheet for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.

• BATMAN PINS: On July 17, retailers will receive free bags of BATMAN PINS (MAY128100) to be given away to fans on July 18. The pins come in bags of 50, and you will receive approximately one bag of pins for every 35 copies ordered at FOC on BATMAN #10 (APR120193).

• BATMAN BACKLIST PROMOTIONAL POSTER: On July 11, you will receive a 22" x 34" promotional poster supporting key BATMAN backlist titles DC Entertainment is offering on consignment (see below). The poster art is currently running in DC Universe titles as a two-page advertising spread.
