Harley Quinn Futures End #1Harley Quinn: Futures End #1
DC Comics
Palmiotti, Conner & Hardin

Harley Quinn continues to be a fun read month-in and month-out. This particular issue participates in the 3D cover, Futures End gimmick, but certainly doesn't read like a gimmick. Even though the comic book is set five years in the future the book reads fairly timelessly, which is a huge plus. If you like Harley Quinn and how the monthly book has been doing then this comic book is for you. If you are curious about the premise of the event or the characters you may find the book a little far fetched. This is worth checking out.

Harley Quinn survives a plane crash and lands on an Island inhabited by some tribesman. Quinn gets to know some of the locals and their customs. She is treated like a Queen and soon meets the King that created a culture that consists of fights to the death and natives dressed up like heroes running around playing heroes and villains. Except on this Island the heroes tend to die. The reveal of the King sets up a wedding. The book culminates with a potential volcano sacrifice that creates quite an ending.

The book is very entertaining, especially in the witty dialogue department. The strength of the book is stringing together a series of funny scenes that read in a seamless way and with a swift pace. This is difficult to do with limited action and in a single issue. The comic book is simply fun and sometimes you need that in your comic book diet.

Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle ReviewsThe artwork is good. The comic book is filled panel to panel with details that all have some uniqueness to them. The pencils capture a nice array of expressions when it comes to Quinn and that adds some nice characterization to the comic book. The artwork brings life to the characters and that's a fitting look for Harley Quinn and the energetic story.

This issue of Harley Quinn is a fun read. It's a throwaway book in terms of continuity but you probably won't regret picking it up if you do. This is another high quality issue in what is proving to be a consistently entertaining series. You will probably catch yourself smiling once or twice as you read the comic.
