Marvel Universe Vs The Punisher #3Marvel Universe vs The Punisher #3 of 4

This instant classic future story rolls on with more surprises. The Punisher finds out exactly what Patient Zero wants and then figures out that not everything is all that clear. Frank walks into a trap, but is it one he can't get out of? Does he want to get out of it? This issue sets the stage for what is sure to be a bloody and excellent ending to this fantastic mini series that takes the story in unexpected directions.

The Punisher meets with Patient Zero. In case you haven't guessed by now this is the character that first contracted the virus. You may recall from issue one that it was Spider-Man.

Spider-Man isn't as crazy as some of the others. For one thing, he can still speak. Besides that he also has demands that reach beyond strictly killing and eating others. Spider-Man wants his woman back. We come to find out that not only does Spider-Man know where other humans are located but he also is aware of another tribe in New York that rivals his own.

The Punisher's motivation isn't as clear as you might expect. Spider-Man offers the humans to the Punisher, where no harm will come to them, if the Punisher will kill off his rival and rescue the girl. The idea being Spider-Man and his tribe will own New York and Frank can leave, having won the battle, and live in peace.

The Punisher doesn't bite at first. It seems what we are seeing here is that the Punisher is willing to sacrifice innocents just because he can't let go of the war. There may be more to it than that though. Perhaps he can't stand the idea of making deals with those he feels he should be killing. The irony in all of this is that he caused the outbreak with his recklessness. Shouldn't he be looking to killing himself when this all over?

Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle ReviewsI love the artwork and style for this type of story. It's dirty and gritty just like the nature of the story. This issue has a lot of action as the two tribes begin to battle each other. The final page provides the most chilling image in the book. The visual story here definitely takes the reader on a great ride.

This mini series isn't for everyone. However, the story is well crafted and filled with surprises making it something not to miss. If you like futuristic stories where life is terrible then this is a great read. I also think if you like good Punisher stories where he interacts with the greater Marvel Universe then you would enjoy this as well. I can't wait to see what curveballs we get in the finale.
