Original Sin #5.2Original Sin #5.2 – Thor & Loki - The Tenth Realm #2
Marvel Comics
Aaron, Ewing, Bianchi, Garbett, Dall'ari & Woodard

The second issue of Thor and Loki's team up to find Thor's sister has plenty of action and a little bit of plot movement. The issue is only slightly spoiled by the news that there will be a new female Thor coming this fall but the fun is getting there and this mini-series looks to be essential reading to get you to that female Thor. This is a fun series and might be the best of the Original Sin tie-in series. I recommend checking this out.

Thor and Loki arrive in the tenth realm and are met with an army of winged women that are armed and angry. Thor tries to explain their intentions and when that doesn't go over well he pulls out the hammer. A very large battle ensues while Loki finds a way to make matters worse that seems to set things up nicely for the next issue.

The book is a fast paced issue with a ton of action and a little bit of trickery. While the action and the plot movement are all good the comic doesn't begin with a bang. The comic opens with what feels too much like product placing (four pages of The Guardians of the Galaxy) but I can understand the reasoning for it. This issue brings in some new characters into the fold but do we know the identity of the sister yet? Things appear to be getting bumpy for Thor in the coming issues and this one certainly sets the table nicely.

Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle ReviewsThe artwork has its challenges. There are a couple of panels where I literally couldn't tell if Thor or Loki where some of the angel fighters. Not only did they appear to be females but their expressions were blank and not true to the dialogue. The book manages to excel during the fight scenes though. I particularly liked the close up panel of Thor twirling his hammer as this is an example of one of the most realistic ways to present this as it might actually occur. Generally this is not a very strong artistic effort but it has its high points.

Thor and Loki and a new sister all living as one, big, dysfunctional family. While we aren't quite there yet, this comic brings the players closer together. This is proving to be a very intriguing mini-series and that means this issue is worth checking out. This mini-series might be a big-time, game-changer for the Marvel Universe and I don't think it should be missed. If you like Thor fighting a lot of winged women then you definitely need this comic book.
