Original Sin #6Original Sin #6 of 8
Marvel Comics
Aaron, Deodato & Martin

Original Sin moves into its final stages with an issue that basically brings all of the Avengers together to set up the final battle with Nick Fury. The issue continues the secret origin-like story from the previous issue about Nick Fury's past. This one focuses more on his relationship with The Watcher but in much smaller detail. It's a decent comic book but nothing comes out of this that is particularly memorable. If you like this event then this comic book will be more of what you like, but if you are looking for this event to jump start into something special then this isn't the issue you were looking for.

The comic book opens with Dr. Midas and this is the best part of the book. He's only in the comic for the first few pages but they reveal some of the plot and give a boost to Dr. Midas' ability as a super villain. The book then moves into the Nick Fury plot.

Nick Fury explains his odd relationship with The Watcher and I'm not sure what to make of it. It seems like a sidebar to the plot rather than tying directly into the murder. It seems Fury's real purpose is to find his replacement. It's not clear if he plans to pick his own replacement or if there is some sort of contest to determine the new man on the wall. Either way, Black Panther grows impatient with all the talking and everything goes crazy.

The book is a fine book. The dialogue isn't nearly as jokey as in previous issues nor is it overly wordy as the prior issue that served as a Fury centric read. This issue doesn't contain a lot of action and seems to be miles away from the actual mystery at hand which makes for a pro and a con against the book. Add this all up and you have an ordinary comic book with extraordinary cast.

Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle ReviewsThe artwork is good. There seems to be a few images that we saw in the prior issue, particularly the large side shot of Fury's head. Generally speaking the book does a good job with the close ups. Where the book struggles is with the action. There seems to be too rapid of an advancement of the panels of action in terms of providing a logical sequence. Once all of the Fury robots come charging in, the book loses its nice flow that it had for the first three quarters of the book. It's an average artistic comic.

Original Sin is a very plain event. There is nothing terrible about it and there is nothing memorable about it. There seems to be a mystery that is largely unexplored throughout this mini-series but the contents within is entertaining enough. This is turning out to be a Nick Fury story, so if you like Fury then this is going to be your event to enjoy. Not a bad read.
