Thor: God of Thunder #7
Marvel Comics
Aaron & Ribic
Two Thors join forces and prepare for battle as the third one gets a glimpse of the doom to come. This issue of Thor is a very good book because it contains excellent dialogue between the two Thors while providing some good plot developments for the rest of the arc. The art provides a nice mix of action and emotions to help round out a good comic book.
Thor of the present gets to know the old man Thor in what turns out to be a very good exchange. There is a lot of dialogue as the pair interact like an odd couple situation. Present Thor has a lot of questions, some of which old man Thor answers while others he simply scolds him for asking. In the end, the duo commits to each other and ride off into battle in what made for a very memorable scene.
Mixed with these scenes is the young Thor as he continues to get a beat down at the hands of his captors. Aaron dovetails these scenes with a nice, but not overly shocking cliffhanger.
The comic is a good one because Aaron does a great job of pacing. For every page that seems to be dialogue heavy, there is another one that is a spectacular visual. The comic reads well as there is a natural ramp up to the endings of both plot threads.
Ribic's artwork is terrific. The comic book looks great in nearly every scene. We have a good mix of close-ups, pinups and splash pages. The artwork brings out the drama and humor very well to match with Aaron's story. Overall, we have a great visual book.
Thor is a very good read each time out. This particular book is a little bit more entertaining than others and that is a good sign as it is the opening to the arc. Overall, I found the book to be right mix of action, thrills, humor and plot. I enjoyed this book and definitely recommend picking it up.
