Welcome back to this week's Weekly Auction Gem rundown! Each week we'll look at Heritage's weekly Sunday - Tuesday comic auction, as well as their weekly video game auction to see which items should be on your radar!

In past auctions, we've seen strong numbers for vintage video games, hard-to-find comics, and rare memorabilia items. If you're new to collecting or want to load up a collection, the weekly auctions at Heritage are a great site to do so!

Archie's Girls Betty & Veronica #1

Betty and Veronica are two of the most iconic figures in comic book history. The eternal question of who Archie will finally pick has plagued fans for over 80 years with no resolution in sight. Betty and Veronica have enjoyed success in solo comics, as well as the very popular Betty & Veronica series.

Archie's Girls Betty & Veronica would run for 37 years before dropping the 'Archie's Girls' from the title, giving them their own autonomy. This first issue is a highly collectible key for Archie fans, as well as Golden Age collectors.

Prices for graded copies of this book have gone up over the last year, but have remained under the $5K mark. This ungraded copy is noted as having major water damage and overall looks to be in fair shape. While this is a key book, water damage is no joke on a book. I would not pay more than $300 for this copy. This would still make a great addition to a reader collection.

Showcase #4 CGC Universal 3.5

With The Flash coming out on June 16, all eyes are on several key books -- including Showcase #4! This is the first appearance of the Silver Age (and modern) Flash, Barry Allen, as well as Iris West. This book is considered to also be the book that started the Silver Age of comics, making it a big grail for many people.

This book absolutely pops, thanks to legendary artists Carmine Infanto's art. This is a big book any other time of year, but thanks to The Flash's first solo movie there could be a price jump on this book.

This CGC blue label 3.5 has Off-White pages and presents very well. The current fair market value of similar books is $21,000. By comparison, an 8.0 has a fair market value of $125,000. This book will most likely keep climbing in value regardless of what happens with the movie, but we all know that outside media can influence a book. If you're looking to jump on this book I would do so now.

Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage Sealed WATA 9.0

While superhero games have been popular since people were only playing board games, the genre was really elevated with the invention of video games. Spider-Man himself has been a popular subject of the medium since the beginning, with a new Spider-Man game coming out for almost every home console available. In 1994, the Super Nintendo got Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage, a fun side-scrolling game that also included several other Marvel comic characters. Unlike most SNES games, this game was special. The cartridge wasn't the normal grey cart that most SNES games had. This cartridge was red -- like Carnage!

This sealed WATA 9.0 A+ example is a looker. While you may not be able to see the cartridge, this game is still a collector's piece. While there is no sales data for other 9.0 examples a 9.2 has a fair market value of $990. I think paying between $750-$850 would be reasonable for this piece. If you're looking at this piece as in investment item, you may be sitting on it for a while.
