Welcome back to this week's top pics from Heritage's weekly Sunday and Monday comic book auctions! Heritage holds weekly funny book auctions which feature key issues, overlooked comics, oddball memorabilia items, and more. These auctions are a must if you want to beef up your collection! Here are my top picks for you to watch.

Detective Comics #359

A personal favorite of mine, Detective Comics #359 introduced Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl. While there was a Batgirl prior to Barbara, this Batgirl had much more of an impact on the overall Batman storyline. This is one of the more affordable Batman and Silver Age keys in mid to lower grades. Interest in Batgirl has gone up and down -- especially in regards to that ill-fated movie -- but with time I know this book will be one of the more valuable Batman Silver Age keys.

This blue label CGC 6.0 has off-white pages and presents incredibly well. Books in this grade have started to climb again, with the one-year average on this book sitting at $1,150. In August of 2021, this book hit an all-time high with a price point of $1,770 -- so while it did fall, it wasn't a huge fall. By comparison, the one-year average of a blue label CGC 9.6 is $78,000.

Ms. Marvel #1

The introduction of Carol Danvers as Ms. Marvel would seem like a much bigger book. But truthfully even in high grades, this book is barely able to crack the $3K threshold -- and that was prior to the Captain Marvel movie being released. In October of 2018 a CGC blue label 9.8 sold for $2,900 -- the highest that book has been sold for within the last 10 years. In October of 2022, a similarly graded book sold for $745.

This blue label CGC 9.6 with white pages, while a great find, has fared worse than 9.8 copies. The current one-year average for books of this grade is $331. Even at its highest price point, this book hasn't gone above $900. If you're looking for an underrated Silver Age key for a major Marvel character, this is it. I personally don't see this book shooting up in value anytime soon, so if you're looking to invest, look elsewhere.

Big Litte Book Group of 9

Big Little Books are a ton of fun to collect. These little books were a type of graphic novel from the 1930s that collected newspaper strips and other short stories pertaining to popular pulp, radio, and comic characters. While some BLB's can be worth big money, most can be found for under $50 -- making them a unique and fun collectible.

This group of 9 includes Li'l Abner Among the Millionaires, Ellery Queen in the Adventure of the Last Man Club, Little Orphan Annie and Chizzler, and more. While Heritage has not indicated the overall quality of these books, these books appear to be in Good condition with obvious wear on the spine and cover.

If you're looking to add these to your collection, I would spend less than $200 for the entire lot. These won't increase in value anytime soon, but don't let that stop you from them. BLBs are great!
