Welcome back to this week's look at Heritage's Sunday night movie poster auction! Every week Heritage auctions off some truly unique finds across all movie genres, such as movie serials, animation, science fiction, romance, and more. Each week I find a few gems that could be overlooked! Here are my pics for this week's unique finds!

Back to the Beach (1987)

We've talked about the Beach Party movies prior, but did you know there was one follow-up film in 1987? After the last Beach Party movie in 1966 - Ghost in the Invisible Bikini - the genre became obscure. Two more movies followed that have ties to the Beach Party movies, but both were focused on stock car racing, which was gaining mainstream popularity. Twenty years later in 1987 Back to the Beach was released, and paid homage to the Beach Party film genre. Reuniting Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello, the movie is a parody of itself, but it is a fun 80s film all the same. The movie is full of visual gags and references that many young audiences may not understand today. If you're a fan of the Beach Party films, or are just discovering them for the first time, I would absolutely put this on your watch list.

This one sheet is noted as being unrestored, and folded, but in overall Very Fine - condition. This is a great, vibrant poster that balances fun and tacky.

Beverly Hills Cop (1984)

Eddie Murphy was at the top of his game in the 1980s. Thanks to a string of movies that showcased his comedic talent, Murphy dominated the decade that would cement him as a big Hollywood star. Beverly Hills Cop is largely credited with putting Murphy on the map, and for good reason. The movie is outstanding. Despite the movie turning 40 this year it still holds up and is as funny as it was the first time I watched it. Earlier this summer Netflix released Axel F, the fourth installment of the Beverly Hills Cop series. While none of the sequels can touch the first movie, Axel F was a great nod to the original blockbuster film.

This iconic poster features Murphy on the hood of the red Mercedes in the movie. This unrestored poster is in Very Fine - condition but does have noticeable folds in it. If you're a fan of 80s cinema or are building a poster collection of your own, this is one I would pick up.

The Breakfast Club (1985)

If you were asked to name a movie from the decadent decade of the 80s, chances are it would be The Breakfast Club. The John Hughes movie featured the Brat Pack, a group of actors who all worked alongside each other in various teen films. In fact, in order to be "in" the Brat Pack, you were most likely in The Breakfast Club (or St. Elmo's Fire). The Breakfast Club should be on everyone's watch list. While it is a film about a group of high school teens, Hughes created a memorable cast of characters that are just trying to be understood by everyone around them. There's a reason why this movie is still culturally relevant -- despite the technological advancements we have made, teens are fundamentally still the same.

Heritage notes this poster as being in Very Fine + condition and rolled. This would be a great piece for any poster collection, especially if you love 80s films.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

My absolutely favorite era of horror is 80s horror. A Nightmare on Elm Street, Gremlins, The Evil Dead, Chopping Mall, Child's Play...the list goes on and on. This decade gave horror fans the most iconic and ubiquitous array of characters that are still popular today. A Nightmare on Elm Street introduced Freddy Krueger to the world, and many of us have been unable to sleep well since then. The cultural chokehold that character had on us in the 1980s should be studied. A Nightmare on My Street by DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince (yes, Will Smith) gets stuck in my head repeatedly. The song itself was not made for any of the movies, that's just how influential the movies were on the broader general pop culture zeitgeist.

An original movie poster for the first film is a must for any horror collector. Heritage notes this poster as being unrestored and in Very Fine - condition. It has been folded, but I believe it adds to the charm!
