Prior to the August 16, 1954 release of Sports Illustrated #1, Time, Inc. sent out to certain subscribers a letter and a copy of this dummy issue of S.I. mainly asking what would you like to see in a weekly sports magazine. The scene is from the crowd at the Oklahoma/Nebraska game of 1953.
