Hottest Comics Top 10
This week the top ten Hottest Comics had a big mover! #7 moved up 310 spaces! I'll do a deep dive later... but dang!
Hottest Comics Biggest Movers
X-Force
X-Force #11 - Up 948
Our biggest mover this week is X-Force #11 which is currently sitting at spot number 52. Last week, 10 sold. Compare that to the week prior where only 2 sold. The most someone paid for one was $155 for a signature labeled 9.6. Though the other sales are on par or lower than the current estimated FMV. The values have both increased and decreased over the past month. With 9.8 and 9.2 decreasing and the others all increasing. 9.4 had the biggest value increase of 45%. There 3,483 copies in the CGC Census with 9.8 being the most common by a landslide.
This comic was released in 1992 and sold for $1.25. While it is the second appearance of "real" Domino, it's also the 6th appearance of Deadpool and the first appearance of the weapon P.R.I.M.E. If I had to guess, the other weeks all had steady sales excluding last week. Last week was probably a lull and when the sales picked back up - it jumped up. What do you guys think? Tell me in the comments below.
X-Men
X-Men #53 - 927
9 sold last week while a lonely one sold the week prior. Released in 1996 and sold for $1.95. There are 223 copies in the CGC Census with the most common grade being a 9.8 with 134 copies. The most someone paid for a copy was a 9.8 signature label. Someone paid $599 for it. There is (1) 10.0 out there. The estimated 9.8's FMV is currently $170. The recent sales of blue labels are more on par with that.
What makes this X-Men Vol 2 issue so important is that it is the first full appearance of Onslaught. While he had a cameo in X-Man #15, this issue is the more relevant one. I mean his name is on the cover! A recent article speculated that the Avengers 5 film could bring Onslaught to the big screen. It doesn't surprise me that people would be going out in search of this relatively affordable issue. What do you think? Is Onslaught heading our way?
X-Factor
X-Factor #1 - Up 917
Seven sold last week compared to the two the week prior. There are 1682 copies in the CGC Census with 9.8 being the most common grade. The current FMV's and recent sales seem pretty on par. Other than the 9.8 blue label that sold for $61. This comic was released in 1986 and originally sold for $1.25.
This was released in 1986 and originally sold for $1.25. It is the first appearance of Cameron Hodge, though it's also the double-sized 1st appearance of X-Factor (the 5 original X-Men). The original five come together to form X-Factor... This is awesome, but I don't see anything out there announcing or speculating that this is to happen on the big or little screen. Let me know what you know in the comments.
G.I. Joe
G.I. Joe, A Real American Hero #1 - Up 826
This comic is climbed a whopping 826 spots this week. Nine sold compared to the 1 the week prior. There was a wildly high sale that went for $900 for a 9.8. That's the highest anyone has paid for that grade. The current estimated FMV is only $525. The other sales seem inline with the FMV's. Ther are 3297 copies in the CGC Census with the most common grade being 9.6.
This comic is the first appearance of the protagonist, Snake Eyes. A film revolving around him was set to be released next month until COVID hit and has since been delayed until 2021. There have been a couple articles recently that may have caused some latecomers to go in search of this key issue. Other than that, I don't see anything new out there to cause the jump.
Secret Wars
Marvel Super-Heroes Secret Wars #1 - up 310
This one jumped - while not as high as the others - all the way up to the number 7 spot! And for good reason. 28 copies sold compared to only 2 the week prior. More notably, 24 of those sales were all on the same day, 9/11, on eBay. I couldn't not talk about this one. The most someone paid was $299 for a 9.8. The current estimated FMV for that grade is slightly lower at $240. There are 2,957 copies in the CGC Census with the most common grade being 9.8.
This comic was released in 1984 and originally sold for $0.75. It is the first in a limited 12-edition comic series. It is also the first appearance of The Beyonders. Though I don't think this is because of any news or announcements. Turns out that the same seller listed a bunch at the same time. 21 copies were listed and sold by the same eBay user. Unless y'all know something I don't?
