BLACK_SALT_Issue_2_AD.jpgMedia Release -- This May 1st, Blackline Comics is offering two free titles to download from their website.

For the first time ever, Blackline Comics will be participating in Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) by offering not one, but two titles free of charge for anyone with a computer and an internet connection. For the whole day anyone can log onto www.blacklinecomics.com to download special editions of the martial arts thriller BLACK SALT: THE LAST HEROES LEFT and the sci-fi adventure COLONEL. Both titles will feature the official FCBD logo on the covers, and will only be available from Midnight on May 1st until Midnight May 2nd. The books will be downloaded in PDF format so that they can be read without the benefit of a digital comic reader app.

Since 2002 the first Saturday in May has been a special day for comic book fans across America. FCBD is a day where both die-hard fans and comic book neophytes get a unique opportunity to go to their favorite participating comic store and explore titles from a multitude of publishers at no charge to the consumer. Every year FCBD grows in the number of publishers, retailers and fans who participate in it, and has become a major part of the comic book culture.

The first title Blackline is offering is BLACK SALT: THE LAST HEROES LEFT SPECIAL EDITON, written by Chad Boudreau (based on the screenplay by BLACK SALT creator Owen Ratliff and Aries Carmona), with art by J.C. Grande and colors by Santosh Kumar Rath. BLACK SALT: THE LAST HEROES LEFT is a story of a US Government agent, trained in the ancient ways of the fabled Shaolin Temple, chasing a renegade Shaolin Monk who had members of the agent's family killed in retaliation for the agent's murder of the monk's son during the theft of a lethal bio-weapon. BLACK SALT: THE LAST HEROES LEFT is currently available from download sites ComicsXP.com (www.comicsxp.com) and DriveThru Comics.com (www.comics.drivethrustuff.com), though the story is nearing completion of pre-production as a feature film, as well as being under development as a videogame, an animated series, and a sports apparel line. The Special Edition for FCBD contains the first two issues of the series and is supported by house ads for Blackline.

The second title is the COLONEL SPECIAL EDITION, written and drawn by Manoel Magalhaes, with colors by Osmarco Valladao. COLONEL is a sci-fi adventure in space that follows an elite militia soldier and his commanding officer, a super-intelligent rifle he carries with him into battle. The Special Edition of COLONEL features 18 pages of art previews from the original graphic novel coming out this summer, and is supported by Blackline house ads.

Blackline Comics is extremely proud to be a part of this year's FCBD, and to be able to show off two exciting titles absolutely free of charge. We hope to raise awareness of these titles and all the other great work at Blackline, and to continue this tradition for many Free Comic Book Days in the years to come.
