While looking at the GoCollect hottest concert posters list from the past 60 days, I noticed that Blink-182 is dominating the top 5 sellers! With a combination of their classic punk style and a new psychedelic edge, their concert posters are making waves throughout the music scene. Blink-182 is making a strong showing, with 9 of their posters in thtop 10. Let’s take a look at some of the numbers!
GoCollect’s Hottest Concert Posters Top 10 List
Note that the list may not be the same based on when this blog is released. I wrote this on Monday, 8.14.23 So, looking at the list, here are the current top five. Just a reminder that this is based on the last 60 days of tracked sales. When I tell you I was amazed by all the “2023” in this list… I’m used to seeing the Family Dog series, Art of Rock, and some other Psychedelic posters… but since I’ve been watching these lists, this is the first time I saw all modern posters on the hottest, minus one.
Honestly, that tracks. Before GoCollect separated out the eras, the hottest comics list was dominated by modern comics.
When I used Terapeak to see the movement of these Blink-182 concert posters from 2023, I found that there were 254 items sold, 119 sellers, and a total sales of almost $43k. That’s a lot of movement for a tour that recently started! For example, when I search “psychedelic concert poster 1967”, I get 43 sold with a total price of just over $3k.
But enough of that, let’s take a look at the top 5 posters. While I’m only looking at the top 5, please feel free to let me know which one is your favorite out of all of them in the comments!
Phish Madison Square Garden 2023
This poster features a concert from July 28 - August 5, 2023. With the featured band being Phish, it's no surprise this design feels psychedelic, but let's look at the numbers first.
This poster was designed by Mark Spusta and according to GoCollect, 26 have sold over the past couple of weeks. The average price is looking like roughly $300, but the highest sale that I see is $500 and was the most recent sale. So those numbers may increase. Again, the psychedelic feel isn’t surprising. Phish has featured the swirly trippy imagery before, note the 2014 Alpharetta poster. However, they aren’t KNOWN for the style.
What makes it unsurprising that they would go this route is that most of their posters feature unique and interesting designs. They have a number of posters in their lineup that are just beautiful pieces that even non-Phish lovers wouldn’t mind being on their wall.
Blink 182 BMO Stadium 2023
This poster features the iconic bunny and was for their June 16, 2023 concert in LA. GoCollect also states that this is the concert where Travis Barker & Kourtney Kardashian announced their pregnancy and that it’s estimated that only 50 were printed.
This kung-fu poster has sold 24 times and for a lower price than the Phish Poster. Looks like roughly $150 is the average going price with the highest being $220 which is showing at the first tracked sale, and prices averaging out even hitting as low as $58 at one point.
Blink 182 BMO Stadium 2023
You read that right! This poster is from the same venue, just the next night with the same estimated 50 print run! This is for the June 17, 2023 concert in LA. GoCollect has tracked 12 sales in the past 60 days. The selling price of this poster seems to jump around quite a bit. It’s sold for as low as $65 and as high as $120.
I must say, this is one of my least favorite designs of the ones we are looking at in this blog. Another bunny feature, this neon poster was designed by Brian Romero.
Blink 182 Toyota Center 2023
This skeletal bunny design was for the July 8, 2023 concert in Houston. It is estimated to have a 50-print run and has sold 10 times so far. While the number of sales is lower, the prices seem to stay high with a few over $300 and most over $200.
This poster has been named “In Hand” and was designed by Dave Quiggle. While slightly reminiscent of the flying eyeball of the Jimi Hendrix and Rick Griffin era, these eyes have ears rather than wings.
Blink 182 CFG Bank Arena 2023
One of the “older” posters, here is one from the May 26, 2023 concert in Baltimore. This is my favorite that I’m looking at today. This just screams of the comic style of some classic posters like Sonic Youth and The Misfits. I’m just a sucker for a more vintage modern design, though.
While there have been 22 tracked sales, only 8 of those were within the timeframe that we are looking at today. This does seem to be a more affordable poster with most of the sales under $100. This poster was designed by Zeb Love and has an estimated print run of 50.
Final Thoughts
So there you have the Blink-182 list… I mean the top 5 of the hottest concert posters based on sales quantity over the past 60 days. I think it’s a great sign that people are out there selling and buying modern concert posters. I do find it surprising that the tour that has been trending for months, Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, didn’t show up.
When looking further, there is an Eras Tour poster on her online merch shop for a reasonable $30 so it makes sense that we wouldn’t be seeing that on eBay sales quite yet. However, I do see city posters with unique designs that have sold on eBay.
The ratio of sales to sellers though is massively different than the Blink-182 posters. 305 sales with 30 sellers and an average sales price of $43. So while there were more sales, these go back to December of 2022 whereas the 219 from Blink-182 just started in mid-late June. That may point towards the age difference and the designs. The Eras Tour posters all feature Taylor Swift imagery and not a lot of artistic creation, in my opinion. Swifties don’t come at me.
When comparing one of those against any of these Blink posters, I can totally get why Blink would be more desirable.
