Crash Bandicoot was a solid favorite in my house growing up. Now the fourth installment will be released in March. Let's take a look at other Crash Bandicoot games to finish the run in your collection. How many do you remember playing?

Crash Bandicoot 4

Activision finally announced recently that the fourth installment of the Crash Bandicoot games will be released on March 12th! There was a demo available to play in late 2020 - I didn't check it out, did you? But all this buzz around Crash got me reminiscing on those great games. Let's travel back and see all the Crash games.

The Original Trilogy

Crash Bandicoot: The Original

Crash Bandicoot the originalThe game that started it all was released for the first time in 1996 on PlayStation 1. Developed by Naughty Dog and produced by Sony, this game introduced the world of Crash Bandicoot. Within the game, the player controlled Crash as he attempted to rescue his girlfriend, Tawna from the evil Cortex & Brio while also trying to stop them from taking over the world. He does so by collecting the purple crystals and bashing boxes.

While people loved the game, some thought it was lacking in innovation. Generally... I would have to agree, but I also think it's a great standard platform game. Crash can only walk, jump, and spin in this original game. Right now, this game in New/Sealed condition is going for roughly $513, obviously depending on condition. Complete games are about $50 and loose is a $20 bill. This original game was released on the PlayStation Network in 2006 and was included in the trilogy that we will discuss later.

Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back

Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes BackTHIS was the game I grew up with! My sisters and I loved this game. Crash 2 was originally released in 1997 for the PlayStation 1 by developers Naughty Dog and produced by Sony. This game introduced more move sets and Crash's sister, Coco. Some people get Coco & Tawna confused, but they are, in fact, different bandicoots.

Crash can now use a jetpack, a jet board, dive, spin, jump, super jump, hang from grates, and belly flop. Here's some trivia: what is missing on the cover of this game? Let me know if you know what it is! This game was later released for the PlayStation Network in 2007. New/Sealed is going for roughly $135 with complete going for less than $20 and loose less than $10.

Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped

Crash Bandicoot 3: WarpedThe third installment was developed by Naughty Dog and was produced by Sony. It was released for the PlayStation 1 in1998 and placed the crazy bandicoot in a time-bending world. In this game, the player controls either Crash or Coco as they travel through time to retrieve crystals. The storyline is a direct result of Crash 2. As Cortex crashes - he unleashes the Great Uka which is a big scary version of the beloved Aku Aku mask.

The gameplay is MUCH improved and Crash learns as he goes - similar to the first Spyro game. This was later released for the PlayStation Network in 2007. This game in New/Sealed condition is worth roughly $213 while complete is going for $26 and loose $10.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy

Originally released in 2017 to the PlayStation 4 - this combination game included an updated version of the first (3) games. Vicarious Visions developed this game with Activision producing it. It was later released for the Switch, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows in 2018. This is one of my favorites to play on the switch. It is a newer game so the pricing is what you would expect, honestly.

Racing Games

Crash Team Racing

This is the last game that Naughty Dog developed alongside Sony's production. Released for the PlayStation 1 in 1999, the storyline is that Nitros Oxide threatens to turn the world into a concrete parking lot and challenges Crash & friends to stop him. Now, I remember playing this game, but that's it. I don't recall any details.

While Mario Cart was a big inspiration behind this game, Naughty Dog wanted to make sure it could stand alone and wasn't a simple knock-off. This game in New/Sealed condition is roughly $150 while complete is $12 and loose is $10.

Crash Nitro Kart

This was released in 2003 for the PlayStation 2, X-Box, GameCube, and Game Boy Advance. It was later released for N-Gage and Mobile in 2004. New/Sealed ranges quite a bit depending on which platform it was on. Roughly $30-$60 for new/sealed and about $10 - $36 for complete and even less for loose. Vicarious Vision developed this game while Vivendi Universal Games produced it.

Crash Tag Team Racing

Released in 2005, players could play this game on the PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Game Boy Advanced. RadicalĀ Entertainment developed this racing game with Vivendi producing it. The pricing for this game is almost parallel to Crash Nitro Cart.

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled

This was the most recent release of a Crash game as it came out in 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Beenox developed the game with Activision producing it. I have yet to play this one - if you've played it and liked it let me know. The price ranges for this game are about the same as the previous ones.
