It is time to jump on the Kang bandwagon and hopefully ride it back to the top of the fantasy investing mountain. If you missed out on round five, check it out.
For the past month, I have regretted not investing my fantasy dollars in Ultimate Fallout #4. While I had a good July-August, it was nothing compared to the competition. Thanks to Fallout and Miles Morales making enormous gains this summer, I was left (gasp!) in third place.
Here we are in Round Six, and I am still playing catch up. Overall, my picks brought profits, but one of my cornerstones took an unexpected hit. That’s right, the 9.8 Venom #3 third print fell by $100, and I blame it all on a September 18 eBay sale of $333. Curse you, buyer, and your frugal spending and getting that comic well under fair market value.
I’m definitely not tossing in the towel on Knull just yet, but I am crossing my fingers for a rebound. Along with Knull and Wolverine, I am putting my faith in all those Kang rumors. If Marvel Studios confirms that Jonathan Majors is indeed portraying the Conqueror, that could help put me back in the race.
To afford that 5.5 Avengers #8, I had to sell my Silver Surfer #4 and Venom #9, but I think it will be worth the gamble.
Here is the full list of my Round Six picks:

THE FANTASY INVESTING RANKINGS
At this point, Ilya and I are having a fight for second place since the gap between first and second is nearly $1,500.
ComicBookCollect, my hat is off to you. With an expanding lead, this player will be hard to catch. Unless there is a Buffalo Bills-level fourth-quarter collapse, the invisible trophy is in the bag. At any rate, here are the latest rankings.
- ComicBookCollect ($4,950)
- Ilya ($3,480)
- Matt ($3,115)
- Jason82 ($2,300)
THE FANTASY INVESTING RULES
Think you can hang with us? All you have to do is post your picks on this thread, and track your fair market values between now and the next blog entry.
With a starting budget of $2,000, how much profit can you make from comic investments? Here are the rules:
- This is only for graded comics and their averages based on current values calculated by GoCollect.
- You can only buy one grade per comic, so no buying $2k’s worth of one hot book.
- Once you post your pics, they are locked for a month.
- You can have as many or as few comics as you like, as long as you don’t exceed the $2k budget.
- Only comics with a current GoCollect Fair Market Value can be used.
- Universal grades only.
- At the end of each month, the winner is determined by the biggest profit margin over the initial $2k budget.
- You have to sell at least one of your comics each month.
- Spend it or lose it. If you still have money left in your budget, it doesn’t carry over to the next round.
