Welcome back to this week's Weekly Auction Gem rundown! Each week, we'll look at Heritage's weekly Sunday - Tuesday comic auction, their weekly video game auction, and their weekly poster auction to see which items should be on your radar!

Atomic War #1 CGC Universal .5

Just in time for Oppenheimer's opening weekend, Heritage is offering a copy of Atomic War #1 from 1952. Published by Ace Periodicals, which had to shift focus away from Golden Age heroes, the comic warned readers about the perils of war. Especially war involving nuclear weapons. At this point the world had seen what atomic weapons could do, leading me to believe this four-issue series was created to make a quick buck.

Ace Periodicals would go defunct in 1956, after being one of the companies used in the 1954 U.S. Congressional Hearings about the "dangers" comic books had on children.

This incomplete CGC blue label .5 features cream to off-white pages, but pages 15 and 16 are missing. While there is little to no sales data for similarly graded examples, a 1.5 sold in February of 2019 for $129. I think this book can potentially go for $80, but I would not go higher.

Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick Sealed WATA 9.2

For decades Bruce Campbell's Ash has been entertaining horror and dark comedy fans with shock and delight. The movie series became a cult classic and spanned a television show, a comic series, and even video games.

2003's A Fistful of Boomstick was met with mixed reviews, but if you like a basic shooter game with horror elements, this game is for you. A Fistful of Boomstick has become a big collector's piece and has the potential to go up in value.

This sealed WATA-graded 9.2 is pretty groovy. Featuring Ash front and center on the cover art, players know what they're getting into. While there is little sales data for similarly graded examples, a 9.8 example has a one-year average of $1140. Ungraded, opened examples sell for around $30 on eBay, while sealed examples have sold for upwards of $175 for the PlayStation 2 version.

Creepshow 1982 Poster Very Fine

George A. Romero and Stephen King are two iconic horror figures, creating some of the most celebrated horror in the world. The two teamed up for 1982's Creepshow, a horror comedy anthology. This movie explores a lot of unique themes, including the ever-lingering feeling of danger some parents had about comic books. This fear can be traced back to around the start of the Comics Code Authority when comic books were accused of stripping children of their innocence. This movie is smart, funny, and should be a must-see if you haven't seen it.

This unrestored poster might not be the more well-known poster -- the Creep behind a theater ticket booth -- but it captures the spirit of the movie very well. Heritage notes that this poster is unrestored and in Very Find condition with some slight wear. The last time a similar example sold was in April 2022 for $204, which I think is still fair for this poster. If you like horror, this one is an absolute must.
