Underground #1 Crawls Out of the Depths This September While minding our own business (as always), happily reading comics, we were pleasantly surprised to receive one of those “emails” via the “interwebs” that the kids are always talking about, informing us about Underground, an awesome new five-part series from Image Comics that delves into (sorry, couldn’t help myself) the creative minds of Jeff Parker and Steve Lieber.

(NOTE: Steve is also a flagship artist for our CBLDF fundraising initiative. Thanks Steve!)

Having had the chance to read the first issue, I can assure you: This puppy’s got bite. I’m already a big fan of both Jeff and Steve’s work, and having gotten a taste of the way they’re working together on this project I can safely say that I can’t wait to see how this unfolds.

Would you like to read the first issue?

Well of course you would, but you’re going to have to wait until September 23rd when it hits the street. (Set up a Watchdog for it and be sure to get yours!) But not to worry, there’s a whole mess of Lieber and Parker awesome out there to tide you over until then. If you want two quick picks I’d say check out Parker’s Agents of Atlas and Lieber’s work on Whiteout, which will soon be storming into theaters worldwide.

What? You want more? Well luckily for you we’ve been allowed to share a few preview pages from the first Issue which are included below. Enjoy!

So what do you think? It’s just a small taste, but the artwork is classic Steve Lieber, and the excitement is only going to build from here!

Do you like checking out the previews, or do you prefer to wait until you hold the comics in your hands? Looking forward to the movie adaptation of Whiteout as much as we are? Stoked about Underground? Have another Parker or Lieber project you think deserves kudos? Let us know!
