The monthly Top 10 CGC Submissions is a curated list of comics and magazines that have been moving up CGC's grading lists. CGCData.com pulls the data straight from CGC over the past 30 days.

For the month of October, perhaps due to the release of Venom: The Last Dance, we saw a surge of CGC submissions related to the alien costume saga in addition to strong representation from the Rippaverse for the fifth straight month. Let's take a closer look at last month's CGC submissions.

Without further ado, here are the Top 10 CGC submissions during the month of October:

1. Isom #1 Variant Cover B (2022, Rippaverse);

2. Isom #1 Variant Cover C (2022, Rippaverse);

3. Wolverine #1 Gleason Variant Cover (2024, Marvel);

4. Wolverine #1 Christoper Variant Cover (2024, Marvel);

5. X-Men #1 (1991, Marvel);

6. Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #8 (1984, Marvel);

7. New Mutants #98 (1984, Marvel);

8. Venom: Lethal Protector #1 (1993, Marvel);

9. Amazing Spider-Man #252 (1984, Marvel); and

10. Amazing Spider-Man #300 (1988, Marvel).

Just like in September, Isom #1 was the top book submitted to CGC in October.

Two variant covers of Isom #1 were the top two most submitted books to CGC during the month of October. If you have been following these monthly CGC submission blogs, you know that thousands of comics published by the Rippaverse have been submitted to CGC over the past few months. Rippaverse has been selling these graded books on their website. A signed and graded 9.8 copy of Isom #1 Cover A sells on Rippaverse's website for $150.

Are they worth $150? It's hard to know because these yellow label copies of Isom #1 haven't hit the secondary market. However, CGC 9.8 Signature Series copies of Yaira #1, another Rippaverse comic that was the No. 1 submission to CGC in both July and August 2024, have started to sell on eBay. These three copies (a Cover A, Cover B, and Cover C) sold in the $150 to $280 range last week, with the foil variant selling for the most:

So these first-to-market books appeared to do reasonably well on the secondary market probably because supply is constrained. There are only two copies that are currently available for sale on eBay and they are listed for $450 and $500. But I wouldn't expect supply to remain constrained as more books enter the secondary market. There are over 1,000 yellow label copies of Yaira #1 Cover A on the CGC Census:

So there is a lot of supply out there sitting on the sidelines. And once those 10s and 9.9s for Cover A hit the market, I highly doubt the 9.8s will hold onto their current values.

And those are the Census numbers just for Cover A. There are 750 yellow labels for Cover B, over 1,000 for Cover C, and 612 for Cover D. There could be a flood of supply in the near future. If you're in the market for one of these, I would definitely wait until they hit the market.

Venom-related books dominated the Top 10 list in October.

With the release of Venom: The Last Dance on October 25th, it's no surprise that we saw a surge in submissions for key issues related to the alien costume saga during the month of October. In fact, Secret Wars #8 (the origin of the alien symbiote), Amazing Spider-Man #252 (1st appearance of the alien suit in the Amazing Spider-Man series), Venom: Lethal Protector #1 (Venom's 1st titled series), and Amazing Spider-Man #300 (1st full appearance of Venom) were all in the top 10 for the month of October.

These are also four of the most graded comic books of all-time. Amazing Spider-Man #300 and Secret Wars #8 have been submitted to CGC over 30,000 times apiece and Amazing Spider-Man #252 and Venom: Lethal Protector #1 have each been submitted over 20,000 times.
