Media Release -- One of Diamond Comic Distributors' five Premier Publishers, IDW Publishing has established itself in the comic book industry with innovative storytelling and is perhaps best known as the comics home of popular, licensed properties like TRANSFORMERS, G.I. JOE, Star Trek, and Ghostbusters. In 2011, IDW begins its first-ever multi-title event, as zombies attack the well-known characters of all four franchises in INFESTATION #1 – featured on the front cover of the November PREVIEWS, the comic shop's catalog.
Never before have four licensed comic book properties been featured in one crossover, and readers invested in IDW's TRANSFORMERS, G.I. JOE, Star Trek, or Ghostbusters comic universes now get a chance to see their favorite heroes battle the undead in their own, unique fashion. And fans can trust that those characters are in good hands, as the ambitious story a decade in the making comes from the critically acclaimed writing duo of Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning (Nova, Guardians of the Galaxy) and is illustrated by True Blood's David Messina.
Just as visually stunning, the back cover of November's PREVIEWS is dedicated to DC Comics' BATMAN: EUROPA #1, which sees superstar artist Jim Lee again put his mark on the Dark Knight. Lee's rendering of Batman is considered by many to be iconic, and this opportunity to see the master help tell a new story featuring the Caped Crusader should be something fans note. Equally noteworthy is that the four-part Europa was conceived by award-winning writer Brian Azzarello and Matteo Casali, written by Casali, and features layouts by Giuseppe Camuncoli. In the Lee-painted first issue, Batman discovers he's afflicted by a virus, and his only chance of survival involves racing across Europe with The Joker in tow.
