Popcorn buckets. These food storage containers that now come in multiple shapes and designs might seem odd to some, but for many of us, this has been a long-standing collectible. I personally started collecting them after visiting the American Disney parks one too many times, and I have talked about them before. However, popcorn buckets go beyond a Disney park. Many other theme parks have jumped on the trend, and for a few years now, movie theaters have offered limited-edition popcorn buckets for any number of movie releases. Specific buckets have created a stir online, so let's look at the current state of the popcorn bucket fandom!

The Scream 6 Ghostface Killer Bucket created a commotion in the horror community when Cinemark dropped this Scream 6 Ghostface Killer popcorn buckets in select theaters. The real killer? The bucket was released weeks before the film, and there was no limit on how many you could buy.

To no one's surprise, the buckets sold out. Cinemark rectified this by having a bucket presale that ended on March 17. For $19 plus shipping, buying it online seemed like a no-brainer.

Before the online sale of the buckets, they were selling on eBay for anywhere between $50 - $100. As of this writing, most buckets are selling for $45 though there are a few $75 sales here and there. Sales will likely stay in this area for some time, though we may see an influx in price around Halloween. I got my bucket through the Cinemark website, and overall it's a fine piece for my horror collection!

Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Night 31's Frankenstein Bucket caught my eye when it was leaked online. We all know I love the Universal Monsters, and I had to have this for my collection. The bucket cost me $31 at Universal Orlando and could be bought right on City Walk -- no need to even buy a theme park ticket.

The price also included a free (separate) popcorn. As of now, prices for the Monster are holding steady at under $30, with only a tiny handful selling for $35 or more. If you want to add this to your collection, this is a great time to buy!

Earlier this year, AMC Theaters released a limited edition Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves D20 popcorn bucket. This bucket could realistically be used in a game of D&D, but it makes a better display piece. This bucket was originally $34.99 but now resells between $75 - $250 on eBay. The higher-priced sales are for dice still in the box. This bucket is sold out on AMC's website. I don't see prices dropping shortly -- they may even go up towards the holidays.

Disney Parks are no strangers to creating some of the most unique popcorn buckets in the world. Certain styles can create a type of hysteria among fans. The Figment popcorn bucket released some time ago caused lines to back up to over 6 hours for a bucket. Recently Tokyo Disneyland Resort released a new collapsable popcorn bucket.

This Donald Duck-shaped bucket collapses into a more manageable item -- if you've ever been to a theme park, you know how cumbersome popcorn buckets can be! While I'm not going to Tokyo anytime soon, I absolutely love the design of this bucket. Plus, how cute are Chip and Dale? This (roughly) $20 bucket is reselling on eBay for $45 - $60 before shipping.
