The Dallas Cowboys are an iconic NFL with fans all over the country. As a result, the team is the most valuable in the league with an estimated value of $9 billion. Dallas entered the NFL in 1960 and the team has continuously been a magnet for attention whether they were playing well or poorly.

As a result of the franchise's popularity, Cowboy's cards often sell at a premium. Below are some interesting Dallas rookie cards for hobbyists to invest in.

Roger Staubach 1972 Topps

Roger Staubach was in college in the days when the service academies were football powerhouses. As a member of the Navy Midshipmen, he was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 1964. Due to his service commitment, Staubach wouldn't suit up for the team until 1969. It was worth the wait.

Over the course of his career, Staubach would make 6 Pro Bowls and lead the Cowboys to two Super Bowl titles. Considered one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, he was voted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 1985. His rookie card, from the 1972 Topps set, sells for around $2,000 in PSA 8 condition.

Ed 'Too Tall' Jones 1976 Topps

Thanks to a trade made earlier in the season, the Cowboys had the first pick of the 1974 Draft. With that choice, they selected Ed 'Too Tall' Jones from Tennesee State University. Standing at 6-9 and weighing in at 271 pounds, the defensive end was unlike anything the league had ever seen.

Jones would star for the Cowboys and made the Pro Bowl during the 1981 through the 1983 seasons. Playing in Dallas for his entire career, Too Tall became a Super Bowl champion in 1978. Jones' first card came in the 1976 Topps set and the card sells for between $100 and $200 in a PSA 9.

Troy Aikman 1989 Score

The Cowboys had bottomed out during the 1988 season, earning the 1st overall pick in the 1989 NFL Draft. In that draft, they selected Troy Aikman out of UCLA. The quarterback would go 0-11 in his starts during the 1989 season, but the bad days wouldn't last long.

Along with Michael Irvin and Emmitt Smith, Aikman led the Cowboys to incredible success during the 1990s. The quarterback would win 3 Super Bowls with the team and make the Pro Bowl 6 times. He entered the NFL Hall of Fame in 2006. His top rookie card comes in the 1989 Score set and sells for around $500 in Gem Mint condition.

The Cowboys started their climb back to relevance when they drafted Troy Aikman. The journey continued in 1990 when they drafted Emmitt Smith out of the University of Florida. Smith would not only become a good player, he would become one of the greatest running backs of all time.

Like Aikman, Smith won 3 Super Bowl rings as a member of the Cowboys. By the time his career ended, he was the all-time NFL leader in rushing yards and has scored the most rushing touchdowns ever. Smith's most sought-after rookie card is his 1990 Score Supplemental issue which sells for $100 in a PSA 9.

Tony Romo 2003 SPx

Many of the Cowboy's legendary players were drafted in the First Round. Tony Romo was something different, entirely. Coming out of Eastern Illinois, Romo signed with the Cowboys after going undrafted in 2003. In 2006, Romo became the starter and would remain so for the next ten years.

Romo became a star in Dallas, making four Pro Bowls before injuries ended his career. Romo stays in the public eye by calling cames for NBC Sports. His 2003 SPX, limited to 1500 copies, varies in price due to variety. Expect to pay more than $100 for a PSA 9 copy.
