Mickey and Minnie Sunheat Furnace Oil Ink Blotter
Since 1928, Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse has been a household name. The charismatic mouse also became a marketing sensation -- Mickey and his pals could be seen on just about everything. In the 1940s Mickey and Minni were the stars on this ink blotter for Sunheat Furnace Oil - a product of the Sun Oil Company.
The Sun Oil Company is better known to most of us as Sunoco, which opened its first service station in 1920, located in Ardmore, PA. Heritage notes that this item is unused and in excellent condition. While there isn't a price point to be found for this item, vintage gasoline memorabilia can be very collectible.
The Adventures of Bob Hope #1
Bob Hope is an American icon whose name has become synonymous with the Golden Age of Hollywood. Hope himself started in vaudeville, then jumped to radio, and then television. He was also known for his USO tours alongside other stars of the era. He was so popular that he even had his own comic, The Adventures of Bob Hope. Published by National Periodical Publications, the book ran for 109 issues before being canceled in 1968.
While I personally am a fan of the illustrated Bob Hope covers, the photograph covers are still great. Heritage notes this issue as being in good / 2.0 condition, as it does have noticeable wear. A similar copy was sold in April of 2021 for $130.
Fantastic Four #4
The hardest part about writing these is seeing all of the cool items I want. The Sub-Mariner is one of my absolute favorite comic characters, and his first Silver Age appearance in Fantastic Four #4 is a personal grail book! With Namor now in the Marvel Cinematic Universe -- as well as the Fantastic Four -- all eyes are on this book! Prices have started to rise on Fantastic Four #4, so if you're looking to get your hands on one now is the time. With an iconic Jack Kirby cover, this book is simply awesome. This blue label CGC 2.5 features off-white pages, and while there are noticeable flaws on the comic, the cover itself still pops. Currently, the one-year average for 2.5 graded copies is $1,902, with a 30-day average of $1,392.
The Sub-Mariner #1
If the Golden Age Sub-Mariner books are a little out of your price range, don't fret. The Silver Age Sub-Mariner run is more affordable and easier to obtain. 1968's The Sub-Mariner #1 retells the origin of Namor and is a great introduction for new Sub-Mariner fans. This is a classic John Buscema cover, with a powerful Namor front and center. Just like Fantastic Four #4, interest in this book will rise like the tide Namor came in on. This copy is ungraded, and Heritage notes it as being in good / 2.0 condition. The current one-year average for similar books is $195.
