Welcome back to this week's top pics from Heritage's weekly Sunday through Tuesday comic book auctions! Heritage holds weekly funny book auctions which feature key issues, overlooked comics, oddball memorabilia items, and more. These auctions are a must if you want to beef up your collection! Here are my top picks for you to watch.

DC Superhero Planter Set

With warmer days ahead for most of us in North America, now is the time to prepare your plants for the summer! Since most of us don't have powers like Poison Ivy, we have to care for plants the old-fashioned way. If you're just starting out, this complete set of 12 porcelain ceramic planters is an excellent way to start!

This set includes the following characters: Superman, Shazam, Batman, and Wonder Woman. The planters have their logo on one side, with the corresponding hero on the other. This complete set from 1976 is harder to come by, making this a great vintage find!

Heritage notes this item as being in Very Good Condition, with wear on the box. A similar lot sold on eBay in February of 2023 for $90 before shipping. If you're interested in this item, I wouldn't pay more than $100 for this lot.

Fantastic Four #1

If there's one comic I would buy in this auction, it would be this one. With Mr. Fantastic officially in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and a new Fantastic Four movie in the works, now is the time to buy this book. While many collectors might be interested in higher-grade copies, don't overlook a good mid or low-grade copy!

Lower-grade books can be more affordable, easier to obtain, and tend to have more character. Prices for Fantastic Four #1 have climbed significantly since 2019, and while sales have cooled in recent months, they will pick up again.

This CGC blue label 2.5 has Off-White pages and considerable wear. The current one-year average for 2.5 copies is $14,976, with the 90-day average at 13,800. This seems to be a decent sweet spot for many low to mid-grade books, tho if you find a copy at a lower grade you could potentially pay less than $10K.

This is both a solid collector's piece as well as an investment piece, but I would recommend hanging on to it for a few years.

The Munsters #9

I have a soft spot for The Munsters. As a classic monster fan, I appreciate the modern-day take on many of the classic Universal Monsters in this family-friendly show. Over 50 years later this show still holds up and is a delight to binge-watch. The new Rob Zombie film is a ton of fun itself and truly captured the spirit of the show.

During the show's initial run, Gold Key released a Munsters comic series, further exploring the day-to-day life of the family. The Munsters #9 has a wonderful photo cover, featuring the main cast (sans Marilyn). The back cover has a pinup of Yvonne De Carlo, who played matriarch Lilly.

This CGC blue label 9.4 has Off-White to White pages and loads of eye appeal. The colors are bright and crisp, with very little wear on the cover. The current on-year average for 9.4 examples is $264, making this an affordable and fun comic to buy. This is perfect for collectors, and would make any Munster fan happy!
