Welcome back to this week's look at Heritage's Sunday night movie poster auction! Every week Heritage auctions off some truly unique finds across all movie genres, such as movie serials, animation, science fiction, romance, and more. Each week I find a few gems that could be overlooked! Here are my pics for this week's unique finds!

Dredd 2012

2012's Dredd with Karl Urban was a true breath of fresh air as far as comic book movies are concerned. While the movie didn't perform as well as many Dredd fans - myself included - might have liked, the movie was a fantastic adaptation of a classic comic. The visuals, plot, and Urban's Dredd, were great. Reception of the movie was mostly positive, though the lackluster marketing campaign likely killed whatever momentum this movie would have had. While a follow-up TV series has been discussed, the show has been in production hell for over 5 years.

This unrestored poster is noted as being in Very Fine condition. The silhouette of Dredd against the black background is intense and mildly frightening -- the perfect combination for the character. Dredd posters tend to sell for under $50, making this an affordable piece for collectors.

Psycho 35MM Reference Reel

Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 Psycho is arguably one of the most iconic horror movies ever. Based on the Robert Bloch novel, Pyshco introduces us to Norman Bates, the owner of the Bates Motel, and Marion Crane, who is on the way to California after stealing $40,000 from her employer. Within mere minutes of going to her room, Marion is stabbed to death by a shadowy figure. The shower scene has become one of the most recognizable movie scenes in horror, and pop culture overall. While often imitated, nothing can compare to the original. Psycho can be credited for inspiring countless films and other pieces of media and is still as terrifying today as it was in 1960.

This 35MM reference reel is a very unique find. While reels do pop up in auctions from time to time, seldom do I see one in such good condition, especially from 1960. This is a truly great piece, one any Psycho or horror fan should want in their collection!

The X-Files 1994

One Friday night in the summer of 1995 my dad and I watched TV in an over-airconditioned hotel room at the beach. My mom and sister were asleep in the adjacent bedroom, but I was still wired from the day. By chance, my dad turned on Fox right before an episode of The X-Files aired. Neither of us had seen the show before, but within minutes I was hooked. The chemistry between Mulder and Scully was electrifying, but the overall scope of the show was exactly what I needed. I don't recall the episode, but I can say with great certainty that The X-Files was, and still is, a large part of my life to this day.

It was also a large part of other people's lives as well. The character of Dana Scully is said to have inspired countless young girls and women to pursue careers in the medical field, the FBI, and law enforcement. "The Scully Effect", as it's often referred to, has been recognized by Gillian Anderson herself. While the show is "over" as of now, you never know when Chris Carter might be inspired to continue on with The X-Files.

This unrestored poster is noted as being in Very Fine condition. This classic poster likely came out in between the first and second season and would be perfect in any X-Files collection.
