Dark Horse announced the aquisition of the license for World Embryo July 2008. A "summer 2009" release date was given, but as it's now too late to solicit orders for a summer release, the question is asked: what happened to World Embryo?
Dark Horse stated the following on July 26, 2008:
Dark Horse is proud to present World Embryo, the latest creation by Daisuke Moriyama (Chrono Crusade). Featured in the same monthly magazine as Hellsing and Trigun, World Embryo delivers an action packed thriller that is like nothing else. This majorly dark seinen series puts a whole new spin on the apocalyptic sci-fi genre.
"We've had our eye on this series for a long time," explains Dark Horse Director of Asian Licensing Michael Gombos. "Moriyama is a personal favorite and his style fits in perfectly with the Dark Horse Manga repertoire."
World Embryo is slated to release in the summer of 2009.

The North American publisher Dark Horse Comics has acquired the World Embryo adventure manga by Daisuke Moriyama (Chrono Crusade). The acquisition was to be have been announced at Dark Horse's panel at Comic-Con International on Saturday, but the surprise guest appearance of actor/author Bruce Campbell cut short the announcement.
World Embryo Volume 1 was listed in the Dark Horse June 2009 Solicitations (solicitations for comics and other products featured in the April 2009 Previews, scheduled to ship June 2009):

No specific release date was given, however, and in a followup email, Dark Horse retracted the listing:
