Every week, GoCollect updates its Hottest Comics list. The list is updated, it's time to speculate on the biggest movers! We do this every week, so be sure to tune in every Thursday!

First up, let's take a gander at the top ten from the hottest comics list first. Spider-Woman #1 climbed 72 spots to land in the first place spot. The other big movers in the top ten are Marvel Spotlight #32 which moved 116 spaces, and Marvel Super-Heroes Secret Wars #8 that climbed 49 spots. Spider-Woman #1 & Marvel Spotlight #32 is a clear one from last week's announcement being rumored that Olivia Wilde is directing a female-centered movie that is all about Spider-Woman.

Hottest Comics Biggest Movers

Time to dive right in! Just like last week, I'm going to talk about the top 3 biggest movers in the top 100, but then I'm going to look at a couple movers that weren't in the top 100 last week, then jumped higher than spot #50. You may notice a theme here... and with the DC's Fandome there really is no surprise there.

Wonder Woman

Up 958 is our biggest mover this week is Wonder Woman #7 that landed in spot #42. 10 copies have sold in the past week compared to the ZIP the week prior. Even the week prior to that, only one sold. This is a big spike. The highest sold copy was 9.8 for $195. That is $25 over the estimated FMV - which isn't too bad considering how popular it became in a week. This comic was released in 1987 and has 622 copies in the CGC census currently and the majority of those are 9.8s.

This one was pretty easy to find. This issue is the first appearance of Barbara Ann Minerva or New Earth Cheetah. Fellow blogger, Matthew, gave a quick update after the Fandome event and told us about the new trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 w3hich showed the big bad... Cheetah. There is no surprise this key issue for Cheetah jumped so high on this list.

Superboy

Up 953 is Superboy #9 that landed in spot #47. Similarly to WW, 10 have sold in the past week compared to the zero sales the week prior. The most someone paid for this comic last week was $160 for a 9.8. That is $40 over the estimated FMV - and other sales from the week. This comic was released in 1994 and there are only 219 graded in the CGC census. The most common by far is 9.8.

You can probably tell on the cover of this why this issue jumped. WELL - back in 2019, we knew we would eventually get a sequel. Last week, the first trailer was released. Guess who is in it? Samoa Joe will be voicing King Shark! Superboy #9 was the first full appearance with Superboy #0 being his first cameo. With #0 only having 50 copies in the CGC Census versus the 219 of #9, it's pretty obvious that #9 was going to be snagged more.

Which do you prefer? First full appearance? Or the first cameo appearance? Let me know!

DC Comics

The last of our big jumpers from last week is DC Comics Presents #49 which climbed up 945 to land in spot #54. Once again, 9 sold last week compared to zero the week prior. This is the fun part of speculations. Watching comics go from gathering dust, to being sought after. The most expensive sale last week was a 9.8 that went for $300. That was $30 over the estimated FMV for that grade. In fact, in general, out of the seven grades with enough data, six of those values have increased by 25%-74%. This comic was released in 1982 and has 242 copies in the CGC Census with the most common grade being a 9.8.

Again, this one is most likely due to DC's Fandome revolving around the antagonist of this comic, Black Adam. Fellow blogger, Matthew, has written a couple articles on Black Adam lately due to the upcoming movie with The Rock. More information was released during the Fandome which lead to this copy being sought after. This is the second appearance of Black Adam, afterall.

X-Men

The last one that we are going to look at is The Uncanny X-Men #155 which climbed 201 places to land in spot #34. Ten of these sold last week compared to the four the week prior. The most impressive sale last week was a 9.8 that sold for $227. That was $17 over the estimated FMV right now. This comic was released in 1982 and there are currently 569 comics in the CGC Census with the most common being a 9.8. Of the six grade with enough data, 5 have increased with the one remaining being stagnant - no increase or decrease.

Being the only Marvel on this list, I was surprised to not. find all that much out there on this specific comic. We know that it is the first appearance of the Brood race. And it was announced that Lockheed is going to be in the New Mutants movie, though the storyline is altered (aren't they all?). Originally, Lockheed is stowed away with Kitty back to Earth after saving her from a Brood attack. Though it's extremely doubtful we will see that on screen, maybe the Brood will have an appearance. Considering we haven't seen the Brrod on screen yet, maybe this is the ticket to seeing them on the big screen if even for a flashback scene.

Lockheed's first appearance was in The Uncanny X-Men #166 which jumped a whopping 601 spaces - the reason it isn't a big focus this week? Because it is ranked #136 on the Hottest Comics list with only five sales last week.

Shazam

Moving on to some of the big movers that climbed a bit higher on the list. First, Shazam! #1, that climbed 180 spots to land in the #38 spot. Ten sold last week compared to the four the week prior. The highest sold copy was a 9.8 that went for $595. That is a whopping $120 over the estimated FMV right now, though it has steadily been climbing over the past month so I expect that FMV to keep rising. While GoCollect tracks their data daily, they don't update the FMV's daily. It would change all to often if they did.  GoCollect takes into account sales trends over time to give a more accurate overall FMV. This comic was released in 1973 and there are currently 3,715 copies in the CGC Census with a 9.4 being the most common.

This comic is pretty cool on its own because it's the first Captain Marvel in DC Comics, the first appearance since Golden Age, and the first Sivana Family in DC Comics. But that's not what we are looking at. Why did more people search it out last week compared to the week prior? Being another DC comic, the answer is relatively easy to find. Thanks to DC's FanDome, we know the name of the upcoming sequel is going to be SHAZAM!: Fury of the gods. My guess is that enough people got excited about the sequel that they went out to get the first DC issue.

There is an auction going on with Heritage right now - a 9.8 with the current bid at $115 and a 9.6 with the current bid at $2. So if you want one - check it out!
