Summer is officially here, and that means one thing. Big, summer blockbusters! While last year we were dominated by Barbie and the color pink, I dare say this year things will be taking a more violent turn with splashes of yellow, blue, and red. I am of course talking about Deadpool & Wolverine, one of the most anticipated follow-ups this year. But aside from the Wolverine bucket, there have been some real gems released this year already!

The Dune Popcorn Bucket

This bucket went viral on its release, and I think we all know why. Released for Dune Part II, I dare say this is one of the best unintentionally terrible buckets released. Inspired by the sandworms from the movie, moviegoers and popcorn enjoyers merely slip their hands into the mouth of the worm for their food. Of course, the internet and late-night talk shows had a field day with this bucket. Currently, you can find them on eBay, but they typically resell for close to $90. While I don't see this price lasting, this item will live on in infamy.

Ghostbusters Frozen Empire Slimer Bucket

The most recent Ghostbusters film had a few popcorn buckets you could buy. Fans could find this Slimer at AMC theaters, where he retailed for just under $30. This detailed bucket features Slimer eating from a more traditional popcorn box. I picked one up for myself earlier this year, and am genuinely happy with the quality. Not only is he eating (his favorite thing to do) but he's also see-through! This is a delightful addition to my collection, as he sits proudly beside many other buckets. Currently he can be found on eBay for just shy of $50, which compared to the Dune bucket is not bad.

Other buckets for this movie included a Ghost Trap bucket, a more cartoony Slimer bucket, and an Ecto-1 bucket.

Godzilla x Kong The New Empire Buckets

Godzilla and Kong have been on a merchandising roll since both were respectively introduced. With Godzilla x Kong taking viewers on an exceptional adventure, merchandisers worked behind the scenes to create some great movie tie-ins. There were several popcorn buckets released for this movie, but these two stand out the most. Doubling as busts for your home, I believe these are only for international markets -- so if you want one, eBay will be your best bet. Both sell for around $50 individually, but for a unique piece of monster merchandise that's not terrible. Both open from the back, but truly who uses popcorn buckets to hold popcorn?

Universal Studios Japan Eva Unit 01 Godzilla Popcorn Bucket

It was only a matter of time before two Japanese pop culture icons were blended as one. This Eva Unit 01 Godzilla bucket combines the well-known purple mecha from Neon Genesis Evangelion - one of the most notable anime of our time - and Godzilla into one. Yet there's one draw back. This bucket it only available in Universal Studios Japan, tho you can easily find it online. Eva merchandise can be highly collectible, and the weirder the better.

Baby Garfield Popcorn Bucket

The Garfield Movie is currently in theaters, but if you're only here for buckets, you're in luck. At the time of this writing, this item can still be ordered through the Cinemark website! I'll be honest, Baby Garfield is so cute. Plus it's only appropriate to have Garfield as a popcorn bucket. That cat loves to eat. While I'm not wild about buckets with straps, these can come off so he can sit perfectly on your shelf. As an added bonus, this cat won't knock everything off said shelf because they're little chaos gremlins.

Walt Disney World's Imagination Pavilion Popcorn Bucket

Last year every Disney Park fan went crazy for the Figment popcorn bucket. This year, for the Epcot Festival of the Arts event, people went crazy for this Imagination Pavilion bucket. Featuring Figment inside the bucket, you can fill this up and have him swim through those popped-to-perfection kernels. While this was a popular item, it didn't grab fans as much as the full Figment one did. You can find this on eBay for under $40, making this an affordable piece for a collection.

I can't wait to get my hands on the Wolverine bucket, and I'm excited to see what else is released this year! Do you have a growing popcorn bucket collection? Tell us about it in the comments below!
