Beyond the Spider-Verse could be piecing together its own brand of the Sinister Six, and that has huge investment implications. WARNING: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE SPOILERS IN THIS ARTICLE.

If you haven’t seen Across the Spider-Verse, what are you doing with your life? Go watch the best superhero movie in years and come back to this article. I’ll be waiting right here.

You’re back. Great. On with the show.

In the films’ closing moments, Miles is captured on Earth-42 by his dear Uncle Aaron. Miles then meets his evil doppelganger who has taken on the Prowler moniker thanks to the Spider-Verse canon having been disrupted. Where could the next film be headed? If you listened closely to J. Jonah Jameson’s dialogue, we may have gotten a large clue.

As Miles is chained to the sandbag, we hear Jameson mention the Sinister Six Cartel. No doubt, Prowler Miles will be revealed as the gang’s leader, and that could also introduce a much different Aaron Davis commanding his very own Sinister Six team.

SPIDER-MAN #234

This is the Sinister Six’s most recent incarnation, and it will likely be the inspiration for their silver screen debut. Considering it’s happening on Earth-42, then we aren’t likely to see the usual roster. Instead, it would seem we’ll get Earth-42 Miles as the Prowler leading the team while Uncle Aaron will don a version of the Iron Spider suit as he did in Spider-Man #234.

What makes this issue even more intriguing is that The Spot happens to be part of the Ultimate Universe’s Sinister Six. This version also included Hobgoblin, Electro, Sandman, and Bombshell. Between now and next year’s Beyond the Spider-Verse, it could pay dividends to grab a copy. At the moment, you should be able to snag a graded 9.8 for around $100.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN ANNUAL #1

The Sinister Six namedrop and their potential for Beyond the Spider-Verse should create a stir for ASM Annual #1. Many fans thought the team was forming for Spider-Man: No Way Home, so this one got a bump during the buildup to that particular film. Since then, prices have somewhat calmed down, but this could give it a quick spike.

If this were any other animated film, I wouldn’t put much stock in getting those prices high, but the Spider-Verse films are far from your ordinary cartoons. With their immense popularity, the Sinister Six’s arrival in any form will send buyers on the hunt for the original team’s debut here.

Being a villainous holy grail in its own right, higher grades will easily cost you five figures. The 4.0 has traditionally been the most common grade on the market, and it has averaged $1,085 for the past 30 days.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #337

In 1990, Marvel reintroduced the famous Sinister Six with famed ASM artist Erik Larsen doing the pencil work. This team featured original members Doctor Octopus, Mysterio, Electro, Sandman, and Vulture along with Hobgoblin replacing Kraven the Hunter. This issue generally gets overlooked, but the graded 9.8 has averaged a respectable $104 over the past 30 days.

BEYOND THE SINISTER SIX

Since the focus of the past two Spider-Verse flicks has been on the vast assortment of Spider-Man variants, it only seems fitting that Beyond will reach deeper into the Spider-Verse for those funky villains. With that in mind, it’s time to turn your collecting focus toward the villain variants.
