2. HULK #1 (+74)

We all knew this day was coming. Since the first rumors of Red Hulk joining the MCU began swirling, collectors and investors have been keeping close tabs on Hulk #1. The gossip goes all the way back to the earliest predictions of what we would see in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. When Red Hulk didn't join the cast (though he did get a tease), it didn't dissuade the comic circles. They knew that sooner or later, the red gamma monster would be in the MCU. After all the years of waiting, the moment has finally arrived.

Only days ago, the first trailer for Captain America: Brave New World dropped online, and the people did rejoice. While there's plenty of excitement for Sam Wilson's return as well as the numerous new additions to the MCU, nothing got buyers to fire up their eBay accounts quite like the trailer's last few seconds. There he was, CGI mustache intact, stomping on the famous star-spangled shield: Red Hulk. That has sent Hulk #1 blazing through the Hottest Comics.

It's not like we haven't seen plenty of other issues get this kind of treatment. Anytime there's a highly anticipated new character getting thrust into the MCU spotlight, it inspires a wave of sales. Hulk #1 will likely stay on top for a few weeks before there's something new for buyers to fawn over. If you're a Red Hulk fan, enjoy the ride while it lasts.

14. HULK #1 (+72)

The real extent of that Brave New World trailer is seen here. Not only did Red Hulk's debut send Hulk #1 to the top of the 10-day rankings, it also took the prize for the past month. In fact, Red Hulk's first appearance was only one spot shy of matching the huge number of positions gained over the previous week and a half. It's a testament to Red Hulk's popularity and the fans' patience to see him in all his CGI glory.

Keep in mind, this isn't the only Red Hulk key you'll want to own. True, he is front and center on the cover art, but Red Hulk is not included in the actual story. That didn't occur until the following issue, Hulk #2. Technically, that makes Hulk #1 his first cover appearance. Why isn't this the consolation prize in the Red Hulk lottery? As we have seen with the first appearances of Wolverine and Gambit, collectors love cover art. Oftentimes, the first cover appearances outrank the first cameo appearances. In this case, Red Hulk is simply on the cover, so there's not even a cameo here.

No matter the reason for buyers to throw their dollars at Hulk #1, it doesn't change the fact that it's by far the single hottest comic in the entire secondary market. You could say that it's a red hot collectible.

31. AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #50 (+54)

Kingpin may have been sent to prison in Netflix's Daredevil series, shot in the face in Hawkeye, and taken down by Maya Lopez's new powers in Echo, there's just no keeping a crime lord down. When you're as popular as Wilson Fisk, that means you've got unbelievable plot armor that shields from, well, anything. At this point, he could survive a nuclear explosion. It's good to be the king.

It's been official for months now that Vincent D'Onofrio will be reprising his famous role for the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again. Reportedly, Kevin Feige and company have reconsidered the show's tone, shifting it away from the She-Hulk comedic version of DD to a more serious Devil of Hell's Kitchen, making it a continuation of the beloved Netflix series. That is good news for Kingpin fans. After all, D'Onofrio turned in an outstanding performance in the Netflix show, making Fisk the unofficial star of the production.

With the enthusiasm for Kingpin to return to the MCU in (hopefully) violent fashion, it's inspired a wave of interest in a holy grail issue, ASM #50. Considering that Kingpin debuted in ASM and Matt Murdoch made a cameo in No Way Home, don't rule out the possibility of Spider-Man making an appearance in Born Again. For that matter, Kingpin could shift from the DD world to battling Spidey on the silver screen.

30. X-FACTOR #6 (+63)

Red Hulk isn't the only one whose true first appearance took a backseat to the first cover art. Once again, we find Apocalypse's key of keys rolling through the sales charts, and it's only going to get hotter as we approach the second season of X-Men '97.

Since X-Men '97's grand finale, X-Factor #6 has been on fire. It's gained traction virtually across the board in all the sales categories, and it racked up an impressive 63 spots over the last three months. All this enthusiasm is based on the closing moments of season one, so we can only imagine how high the issue will soar once the hype begins for season two. As mentioned in prior Hottest Comics blogs, there's no ruling out an Apocalypse cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine. After all, practically every other FoX-Men character is rumored to be in the movie. Why not add En Sabah Nur to the list as well?

For those of you truly wanting a deep dive into Apocalypse collecting, you'll want to track down X-Factor #5. This is his true first appearance, though CGC still makes the distinction that it is a cameo first. No matter how you look at it, that makes it Apocalypse's debut, so it is worth adding to your long boxes.

26. TMNT: THE LAST RONIN #1 (+67)

The Last Ronin #1 has been on a significant tear for the last six months, and it's only going to get even more popular in the coming months.

It was major news for Turtles fans when Sony announced that Last Ronin would be adapted into a live-action movie. Even better news is that it will be an R-rated adventure. For comic readers, that was indeed exciting news. After all, Last Ronin is very much a mature story with a much more serious tone than what mainstream TMNT fans are accustomed to seeing. This story stars Mikey as he avenges the brutal deaths of Splinter and the other Ninja Turtles. The journey forces Mikey to grow up, so there's no more pizza-loving shenanigans in Last Ronin. Trying to force too much comedy into this particular adaptation would be a disaster.

Remember that prior to the Last Ronin announcement, Mutant Mayhem cleaned house at the box office. That alone injected new enthusiasm for the TMNT brand. With a sequel to the animated movie and a tie-in cartoon series on the way, it's kept the Ninja Turtles firmly embedded in the mainstream consciousness, which has been a boon for Last Ronin collectors.
