A wide range of genres made our hottest magazines list, showcasing the varied interests of magazine collectors. The Hottest Magazines is a curated list of the magazines moving up the eBay sales lists. GoCollect pulls the stats straight from eBay and sorts them by volume moving in the marketplace over the past 30 days.

4. Sports Illustrated #v1 #1 (+7)

The granddaddy of all sports magazines moved up the charts based on increased sales volume. Seven graded copies have sold since the beginning of April, including a 9.8 going for $3,499 in a Collectors Comics fixed price sale via eBay on April 25. It’s in line with the previous sale of a 9.8 for $3,500 in a November 19, 2024 fixed price eBay sale, so we’re beginning to see some price stabilization in the top grade. Other sales include wildly divergent prices for 9.6 graded copies, one selling for $1,995 on April 11, but dropping just a little over a week later to $995. Both were fixed price sales, with the latter likely priced to sell quickly.

15. Playboy #v34 #5 (+8)

Vanna White of Wheel of Fortune fame graced the cover and the interior of the May 1987 issue of Playboy, despite her misgivings. The photos were taken prior to her rise in fame, and she tried to sue the magazine to prevent publication. At the time, the issue was a hot commodity. Based on recent sales data, it still is. Just look at the rising prices in the 9.2 grade over just a couple of weeks: 4/12 – slashed $125, 4/17 - $120, 4/28 - $175. Sales volume has been rising for this issue over the past six months, with more than a third of all recorded sales occurring since December 2024.

16. Beckett Baseball Card Monthly #64 (+65)

This issue has been rapidly climbing up the charts since the record setting sale of a 9.8 in a November 10, 2024 eBay auction for $393. This July 1990 issue featuring Ken Griffey, Jr. has seen rising sales volume and accompanying price increases. On April 14, a 9.6 graded copy sold for $120 in a fixed price eBay sale. By May 3, a 9.4 was going for the same price.

25. Nintendo Power #1 (New to the list!)

Just when you thought it had disappeared, the premiere issue of this perennial favorite rockets back onto the list. Across the spectrum of grades, we’ve seen sales that range from $1,346 for an 8.5 graded copy to $193 for a 3.5 Qualified copy. Keep in mind that this is one of the highest priced magazines in the hobby, with a top price of $108,000 paid in a 2023 Heritage auction for one of the two 9.8 graded copies. Additionally, the 678 CGC census count should be considered low for a magazine that was published in the late 1980s.

44. Shock Illustrated #1 (New to the list!)

This October 1955 EC publication has never appeared on the list before. Likely that’s due to a low census count of just 39 graded copies and its relative obscurity when compared to EC’s comic books. However, make the list it did thanks to two sales in Heritage auctions. The first set a record when a 9.6 graded copy sold in the April 15 auction for $2,100. The second was a more pedestrian sale: a 6.5 going for $139 in an April 22 auction. We’ve already seen three sales of this issue in 2025. No other year has seen sales volume above more than four copies in a calendar year. Could 2025 be the year that record is broken?
