Earlier this year, I wrote about the launch of PSA's Comic Population Report. At the same time, on a different tab on the same page, PSA also launched its Population Report for magazines as well. PSA officially began accepting comic book and magazine submissions for the first time on July 14, 2025, and we're starting to get a glimpse of what collectors have been submitting to PSA during the past six months. Not surprisingly, magazines with Pokémon, Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, and Caitlin Clark on their covers have dominated recent submissions.
The most frequently graded magazine in PSA's Magazine Report is actually one of its own publications, PSA Magazine. Launched as Sports Market Report in 1995, it rebranded to PSA Magazine in January 2022 to broaden its focus beyond news about sports cards to include popular trading card games like Pokémon and video games. You'd think the most commonly graded copy of PSA Magazine would be the first issue which featured Charizard on its cover. Instead the most commonly graded magazine on PSA's Population Report is PSA Magazine #17 which features Shiny Gyarados instead. PSA has already graded 129 copies of this issue. There are already two 10s in the Population Report. Both of which sold in November 2025 for around $550:
Several other issues of PSA Magazine were also frequently submitted to PSA including PSA Magazine #16 – Pop Culture & TCG #16 (an Alex Ross cover of the Fantastic Four that has 35 graded copies), and PSA Magazine – Sports #32 (a Kobe Bryant cover with 33 graded copies).
Not surprisingly, PSA has already graded hundreds of magazines that feature Michael Jordan on their covers. The three most commonly graded of these magazines were Sports Illustrated Vol. 61 #26 (51 graded copies), Beckett Basketball Card Monthly #1 (44 graded copies), and Sports Illustrated Vol. 59 #23 (32 graded copies). A few of these PSA-graded copies have sold on the secondary market, including this low grade PSA 4.5 copy of Vol. 61 #26 which sold for $2,250:
From one GOAT (Michael Jordan) to another (Wayne Gretzky), the first issue of Beckett Hockey Monthly #1 featuring Wayne Gretzky (32 graded copies) also cracked the top 10 most commonly PSA-graded magazines. Widely regarded as the greatest hockey player of all-time, it's no surprise that collectors would frequently submit this 1990 publication featuring the "Great One" to PSA for grading. PSA-graded copies of this magazine haven't yet sold on the secondary market, but a CGC 9.8 copy recently sold for $275 in November 2025.
Although she hasn't been around nearly as long as Pokémon, Michael Jordan or Wayne Gretzky, the three variants of Slam #256 which feature Caitlin Clark also cracked the top 10 magazines most frequently graded by PSA. None of these PSA-graded copies have sold on the secondary market; however, this CGC-graded 9.8 copy of the Clark Gold Metal Variant sold for an eye-popping $1,250 back in September 2025:
