Harley_Quinn_SellDC Comics has many established heroes and villains in their character lineup that is well-known around the world. Characters that include Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Joker, Deathstroke, Darkseid, and much much more. Their lineup is diverse in that these characters originated from different times in the last century. Some characters such as Batman and Superman come from the "Golden Age", while Deathstroke comes from the "Bronze Age.

Darkseid can be considered from the "Silver or Bronze Age" and that is dependent on which issue you consider his first appearance. Anyways, DC Comics needs to figure out its next big breakout star during these current times. As an example, Harley Quinn, known for being the Joker's sidekick has risen to a modern grail issue for her first appearance. The question is, who is the next modern female character to rise?

Jessica Cruz

The first female character I would like to mention is Jessica Cruz. She is a very new character for DC Comics. Her value has boomed lately with the rumors of the upcoming HBO Max show. The show will be featuring many Green Lantern characters that have been speculated for a while now. Cruz is amongst those Green Lanterns rumored to be in the show. Geoff Johns, one of the most established comic cook writers for DC Comics, has been pushing for Cruz to have more media attention. Johns has moved to a DCEU role and appears to have an influence on the upcoming Green Lantern series. In addition, Johns also created Jessica Cruz and so there is a link to popularize his own character.

The first appearance of Cruz is considered to be in Justice League #31. The Fair Market Value (FMV) is pending, as it has skyrocketed to a $300 book this month for a 9.8 graded copy. The rumors have been pushing this book's value and it does not appear to be slowing down. Collectors, be on the lookout for the variant cover by Mike Allred, as a 9.8 graded copy just went for $500!

Punchline

Well, let's talk about another character that could be the next female modern grail. This female character is even newer than Jessica Cruz! The individual I am referring to is Punchline. Yes, we are sick of hearing of her, but the reality is, her value keeps rising despite all the buzz around her. Punchline, also known as Alexis Kaye, is a new character from this year and known as the Joker's new right-hand woman. She is basically taking the role of Harley Quinn. Collectors flock at the buzz of something new and the market has responded well.

Punchline's first cameo appearance is in Batman #89. Officially, her first full appearance is in Year of the Villain: Hell Risen #3. The value of her cameo appearance has held a steady value. It is currently at $150 for a 9.8 graded copy. Her full first appearance issue is shown the steadiness like her cameo. The FMV is sitting nicely at $220 for a 9.8 graded copy. Her value expects to take an increase with the release of her special oversized (48 pages) one-shot coming out in November. Just like Cruz, DC plans on taking the attention of her buzz by exploring her origin with the issue in November.

In the end, we have two modern female characters that are rising steadily in value. The question is, do we believe any of them will reach Harley Quinn's status? If not, who is another modern candidate?
