The monthly Top 10 CGC Submissions is a curated list of comics (and magazines) that have been submitted the most often to CGC during any given month. CGCData.com pulls the data straight from CGC over the past 30 days.

Just to shake things up this month, we'll be reviewing top submissions to CGC in terms of difference from the previous month (i.e., July 2025). In other words, we won't be looking at the total number of submissions in August, but at those submissions that have experienced the greatest change since July. Looking at monthly submissions through this lens might give us a sense of which comics are "hot" and trending as opposed to those that are all-time favorites (e.g., Amazing Spider-Man #300).

When you look at the data from this perspective, for the month of August 2025, we see a new comic has taken the No. 1 position: Skinbreaker #1 Variant Cover G. More on this below, is the first in a new series written by the great Robert Kirkman.

And without further ado, here are the Top 10 CGC submissions (in terms of greatest difference from the previous month) during the month of August:

1. Skinbreaker #1 Cover G Variant (Image, 2025);

2. Fantastic Four #1 Pure Silver Foil (Marvel, 2024);

3. The Horseman #1 Variant Cover C (Rippaverse, 2025);

4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Reprint #4 Variant Cover C (IDW, 2025);

5. Amazing Spider-Man #70 Young Variant Edition (Marvel, 2025);

6. Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion #1 Ngu Variant Cover (Marvel, 2025);

7. Wolverine #8 Second Printing/Johnson Variant Cover (Marvel, 2025);

8. Amazing Spider-Man #1 (Marvel, 2025);

9. Mighty Golden Patriot Variant Cover C (RippaSend, 2025); and

10. Batman Beyond: Facsimile Edition #1 Foil Edition (2024, DC Comics).

I've been writing this monthly blog about CGC submissions for nearly a year and a half, and this is the first time every issue in the top 10 have never previously appeared before in a top 10 list. If you read this blog on a regular basis, you're aware that major keys from the Copper Age typically dominate this list every month (e.g., Amazing Spider-Man #300, Secret Wars #8, and Wolverine #1), so it's refreshing to cut the data in a different way for a different perspective on what's "hot."

Investors are banking on Robert Kirkman's new series, Skinbreaker.

Based upon GoCollect's Modern Age CPI, you apparently can't go wrong investing in a new Image Comics series written by Robert Kirkman. In fact, the two most valuable key issues of the Modern Age -- Invincible #1 and The Walking Dead #1 -- were published by Image and written by Kirkman. Those two issues continue to defy the comic book bear market and generally trend upward in value (especially Invincible):

So it comes as no surprise that investors are submitting a variant of Skinbreaker #1, a new series written by Kirkman and published by Image, to CGC in large numbers (below is Cover G):

It's not clear to me how 207 copies of an alleged 1-in-1000 variant could've already been submitted to CGC in August for a book that is supposed to be published later this month, but once these graded copies of Cover G hit the secondary market, I'll be closely watching how much they sell for. Based upon the success of Invincible #1 and The Walking Dead #1, It could be a good idea to get in early?
