The monthly Top 10 CGC Submissions is a curated list of comics and magazines that have been moving up CGC's grading lists. CGCData.com pulls the data straight from CGC over the past 30 days.

For the month of December, there are several familiar faces including X-Men #1, Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #8, Venom: Lethal Protector #1, and Uncanny X-Men #266. We've seen them on this list many times before. But there are also quite a few newcomers including a new, first time #1. Let's take a closer look at last month's top CGC submissions.

Without further ado, here are the Top 10 CGC submissions during the month of December:

1. Absolute Batman #1 (2024, DC Comics);

2. VeeFriends #1 (2024, VeeFriends LLC);

3. X-Men #1 (1991, Marvel Comics);

4. Star Wars: A New Hope (2018 Niue $2);

5. Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #8 (1984, Marvel Comics);

6. Venom: Lethal Protector #1 (1993, Marvel Comics);

7. Spider-Man #1 Silver Edition (1990, Marvel Comics);

8. Uncanny X-Men #266 (1990 Marvel Comics);

9. Transformers #13 Big-Time Collectibles Edition (2024, Image/Skybound); and

10. Absolute Batman #1 Jim Lee Variant Cover (2024, DC Comics).

CGC received 1,737 copies of Absolute Batman #1 during the month of December.

Absolute Batman #1 absolutely dominated in terms of CGC submissions during the month of December. Not only did Cover A and the Jim Lee variant take the Nos. 1 and 10 spots, but other variant covers also took the 16th, 18th, 25th, 31st, and 37th through 39th spots as well.

For those of you who aren't yet familiar with the Absolute Universe, it's an all-new continuity separate from the mainstream DC Universe similar to how the Ultimate Universe reimagined and modernized Marvel superheroes. The DC Absolute Universe, overseen by Scott Snyder, began in October 2024 with the DC All-In Special. If CGC submissions are any indication, fans and investors absolutely love this reboot of these iconic characters, including Batman. During the month of December alone, CGC received an astounding 1,737 copies of Absolute Batman #1 if you include every variant.

And they are appearing on eBay for sale and selling at high price points especially if you're one of those who were fortunate enough to receive a 9.9 like this one that sold on December 20th on eBay:

For the first time in seven months, there are no Rippaverse Comics on the Top 10 list.

CGC submissions in December may be most notable for what is NOT on the list this month. If you've been following my blog about CGC submissions, then you may know this is the first time that a comic published by the Rippaverse was not on the Top 10 list! I wrote my first blog about CGC submissions back in May 2024. Since then, Rippaverse comics dominated the CGC submissions list for six straight months from June through November 2024. Remarkably, there wasn't a single Rippaverse comic that made the top 2,210 submissions to CGC during December.

Was that just a six month flash in the pan? Most likely, but we'll see if Rippaverse comics make a return to this list in future months.

There were some other newcomers on December's list including VeeFriends #1 and Transformers #13 Big-Time Collectibles Edition. Drop us a comment below if you've been collecting either of these issue!
