It was a week for surprises in the Hottest Comics rankings as Longshot and Battlestar Galactica made appearances among the eBay best sellers.

We are back again for a closer look at the secondary market. Using data from eBay, the Hottest Comics is a ranking of the 100 best-selling single issues on the site. For this list, we are using the 10-day tracker. Keep in mind that the sales information is updated daily, so the positions listed below may not match the current listings. In other words, take it as a snapshot.

21. HULK #1 (+21)

Now that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is in the books, many collectors are turning their attention to those Captain America: New World Order keys. At the top of the list is Red Hulk’s debut on the cover of Hulk #1. There’s no guarantee that he will be in the movie, but we do know that Harrison Ford will play Thunderbolt Ross.

With Tim Blake Nelson returning to the MCU as Dr. Samuel Sterns, there is speculation that his character will help Ross transform into Red Hulk. That has buyers on the lookout for those key appearances.

27. SPIDER-MAN #7 (NEW TO THE LIST)

With prices rising for the Spider-Man #7 top-secret variant, it was only a matter of time before the standard edition made its way onto eBay’s top 100.

Since this one doesn’t have Spider-Boy on the cover art, buyers had left it on the proverbial shelf in favor of the variant. However, it is still a worthy pickup as you put your sets together. After all, this still counts as the first appearance of the new character that is all the rage at the moment.

36. THOR #134 (-1)

Maybe the first appearance of The High Evolutionary lost a spot over the past 10 days, but it is still holding its own. That in itself is impressive, especially if you consider that other Guardians of the Galaxy key issues are on the way down. It’s been weeks since GOTG Vol. 3 premiered in theaters, so it’s natural for those issues to fall in the rankings.

Factor in High Evolutionary’s totally-not-surprising demise by the movie’s final act, and all logic would say that Thor #134 would be getting the cold shoulder. Yet, here it is in the 36th position, and that is worthy of noting. We shall see if it keeps up the pace in the coming weeks.

58. LONGSHOT #1 (NEW TO THE LIST)

Who among us expected to see Longshot #1 on the list? With some top-tier X-Men key issues landing on the Coldest Comics blog, it is a surprise to see this comic nearly cracking the top 50 best sellers. Then again, Longshot could be a great addition to the MCU, with or without the X-Men.

His adventures in Mojoworld would make for a great movie or Disney Plus series. For that matter, we could see him reappear in X-Men ‘97, given that he was part of the original X-Men: The Animated Series.

73. BATTLESTAR GALACTICA #1 (NEW TO THE LIST)

Between a new movie and series reboot both on the way, Battlestar Galactica fans have plenty to celebrate. The legendary sci-fi show has always been a fan favorite, and now buyers have a new reason to want that coveted first issue. As we get closer to the relaunch, we will see if the interest remains for Battlestar Galactica #1. That is a fiercely loyal fan base, so this issue could tank if the new movie and show aren’t up to standard.

Which do you think will end up with the highest return in the long run? Let us know in the comments!
