Welcome back to this week's look at Heritage's Sunday night movie poster auction! Each week Heritage auctions off some truly unique finds across all movie genres, such as movie serials, animation, science fiction, romance, and more. Each week I find a few gems that could be overlooked! Here are my pics for this week's unique finds!

German Boogie Nights 1998

In 1988 Paul Thomas Anderson created The Dirk Diggler Story, a short mockumentary inspired by This Is Spinal Tap. The story followed adult star Dirk Diggler through the Golden Age of adult entertainment, the 1970s. The short was later expanded on in Anderson's 1997 film Boogie Nights starring Mark Wahlberg. Boogie Nights would become an instant hit on its release and was nominated for several high-profile awards. Boogie Nights is still relevant in the current pop cultural zeitgeist, and it's impressive to think it all began as a mockumentary based on one of the most infamous of that genre.

This German release poster is striking and bold. Heritage notes this poster as unrestored, and in overall Very Fine condition. This poster encapsulates the vibe of the 1970s and draws the viewer in. Similar examples of this poster sell for under $400, making this an affordable piece of art.

Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm Lot

While this may be a surprise to see in a movie poster auction, both Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm may deserve a spot on this list. Both have been in movies and television shows throughout the decades and remain a place of inspiration for many. The Southern California theme parks are iconic and fun, and can also produce some very collectible items. This lot includes various tickets for both parks, as well as a vintage Mickey Mouse pin. Some of these tickets are the now infamous lettering system tickets Disney used to use, which ranked rides on an alphabetical and desirable scale. D ticket attractions were considered the best of the best.

Ticket books range from $25 - $200 depending on the date and condition. Out of the two parks, the Disney items will hold the most weight. Heritage notes that everything is in overall Fine / Very Fine - condition. These are a unique piece of Americana and are perfect for theme park enthusiasts.

Egyptian First Blood 1982

When you think back to the movies of the 1980s there's a few that likely come to mind. Indiana Jones, E.T., Batman, Star Wars, and of course, Rambo. The 1982 over-the-top action film was based on a 1972 novel - First Blood - by David Morrell. The movie would start an overall successful franchise of Rambo films with Sylvester Stallone and would become one of the icons of the decade. First Blood was a financial success globally, and the posters for the first film are very collectible.

This Egyptian edition poster refers to the film as Rambo in English. This poster is exciting and colorful, and I appreciate that the original copy was likely hand-painted. Heritage notes this poster as being unrestored and in Very Fine condition. Similar examples have come up for auction fairly recently, with one selling for $30 in December 2023.
