From 8-but to 64-bit, Heritage is turning up the heat this summer with some classic video game finds! This showcase auction features some of the most unique video game finds we've seen for a while with graded and ungraded items. Here's a look at my top gem pics from this week's auction.

Ghostbusters II Prototype UngradedĀ

This item caught my eye immediately. While prototype games are very unique items, and hard to find, finding one for a popular franchise is like hitting the jackpot. This prototype for Ghostbuster II features a plain yellow sticker indicating which game it is and was likely used as a test cartridge before a proper release.

Based on the popular 1989 sequel, Ghostbusters II was published by Activision and released in 1990. The side-scrolling action game is a single-player game, and while it was not well received on its release, it has become a collector's item.

Graded examples have sold between $300 and $3,000, but it's hard to put a price point on this example. This is a one-of-a-kind item that not many people will get a chance to own, so bidding could break the $300 price point. For a collector, this is a great opportunity to buy something not other collectors may own. This cartridge is in overall great shape but has not been tested.

Action 52 Promo VHS Featuring The Cheetahmen Ungraded

Action 52 is probably the most notorious video game produced for Nintendo. This cartridge was filled with 52 video games -- some worked, some didn't -- but the cartridge was designed to promote The Cheetahmen, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle's knockoff. This unlicensed cartridge has become the stuff of legends, and was the topic of one of my favorite Angry Video Game Nerd videos.

This VHS contains a promo for the Action 52 game, as well as footage of The Cheetahmen. If you're the lucky person to buy it, please let me know the contents of this VHS.

As this is one of the most unique pieces I've seen in a video game auction, pricing this is hard. Graded copies of the video game can go for several hundred dollars. Even ungraded copies command a decent amount. This promotional VHS is a very niche item and could easily go for over $500 if the bidding is tough enough.

Heritage notes this VHS is in overall excellent condition with some wear. They did not note if it was still in working order.

Heritage also has a sealed CGC blue label 9.4 for sale in the same auction, so if you're an Action 52 fan, this auction is for you.

Mighty Bomb Jack Prototype Cartridge Ungraded

This auction is full of prototypes, and this one is arguably the best one in the auction. 1987's Mighty Bomb Jack is a sequel to the 1984 arcade game, Bomb Jack. This is one of the few games that could be played on the Nintendo VS system, which allowed players to play against each other. Many games were tested for the system, but only a few made it past the testing stage -- making this cartridge very collectible. The label on the cartridge, while very cool, was not the final sticker used on the games release.

This game does do well when it pops up in auction, with graded copies selling anywhere from $100 - $600. Heritage notes that the cartridge is in Very Good to Fine condition. Heritage does not test cartridges, so there's a possibility that it will not play. If you're a fan of prototype games, don't let this one get away.
