Here at GoCollect, we specialize in analyzing popularity within individual collectible segments—ranking which comics, cards, magazines, video games, concert posters are rising or falling inside their own markets. For example, we rank comic books by both sales volume and sales prices on our Market Overview, and even created stock tickers for comic book key issues.

But we've never compared the popularity of one type of collectible against another.

Have you ever wondered which collectible categories reign supreme across the collecting universe as a whole? At least once, have you wondered which collectible is the most searched for on the Internet?

Ebay’s Collected: 2025 in Collecting Trends report attempts to answer those very questions. By analyzing the search activity in its online marketplace, eBay's report reveals which collectible segments—e.g., Pokémon, sports cards, toys, and even grading companies—have commanded the most attention during 2025 (more specifically, January through October 2025). Although dozens of online auction houses exist, eBay still possesses a large share of the public auction market, so it provides a sense of which collectibles generate the most demand and a cross-category ranking.

As reported by eBay, here are the top 10 collectible-related searches of 2025 on eBay:

1. Pokémon;

2. Pokémon Cards;

3. LEGO;

4. PSA 10;

5. PSA;

6. LEGO Star Wars;

7. Hot Wheels;

8. Pokémon PSA 10;

9. Michael Jordan; and

10. Football Cards.

In my opinion, some of the categories are redundant, and I think it would've helped if eBay combined some of these searches (e.g., Pokémon Cards with Pokémon PSA 10; PSA 10 with PSA; and LEGO and LEGO Star Wars). Still it gives you a general sense of what many collectors are interested in.

I'm mostly a person who collects comic books (who also buys some sports and trading cards on the side), so I was very surprised to see that comic books didn't even crack the Top 10! I can understand Pokémon taking the top spot, but no Spider-Man or Batman? Wow.

Clearly, the collectible that captured the most interest among collectors in 2025 was Pokémon, which took three of the top 10 spots in eBay's ranking. With PSA grading many Pokémon trading game cards, Pokémon cards would've likely turned up in the PSA 10 (No. 4) and PSA (and No. 5) searches as well.

The most expensive card that sold on eBay this year—including all trading cards and sports cards sales on eBay—was a PSA 10 copy of the Charizard Base Set Shadowless 1st Edition Holo Rare #4 which sold for over $270,000 in August 2025. Although it sold for more than any sports card on eBay during 2025, it doesn't come anywhere near the autographed Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant 2007-08 Upper Deck Dual Logoman card that sold for a record-breaking $12.9M in August 2025 on Heritage Auctions:

Even though comics didn't make the Top 10, eBay's report provided data on the Top 5 comic book character-related searches in 2025:

1. Amazing Spider-Man;

2. Batman;

3. X-Men;

4. Fantastic Four; and

5. Spawn.

Even though Invincible didn't make the top five, the report noted that Invincible searches on eBay grew 50% year over year in comparison to January through October 2024. This correlates with what we've seen on GoCollect's Modern Age Collectible Price Index with Invincible #1 almost single-handedly lifting the Modern Age CPI out of a long-running bear market:

Even though Superman and Peacemaker also didn't make the Top 5, eBay noted there was a whopping 2,300 searches for "Superman" per hour on eBay and 1,500 searches per day for "Peacemaker" in 2025.
