Hey there! This past week, we kicked off something major: the initial launch of our Public Profiles & Lists feature. It's a game-changer, giving you the tools to easily showcase your collection to the world.

If you’ve been on the site recently, you probably noticed our pop-up modal putting this release front and center. Yep, we wanted to make sure you saw it because this is just the beginning of something much bigger. Over the coming month(s), we’ll be rolling out some updates that will elevate this feature and the ways you can use GoCollect. For now, think of this as an opportunity to make your GoCollect experience less about solo collecting and more about connecting.

Your Collection, Your Public Persona

This is your chance to really beef up those LISTS and your PROFILE to mold something you want to face the public. And we're giving you ample time to get really creative with it! Create a space that reflects your unique journey and share it with pride. Link up your socials, your selling platform(s), and highlight your prized possessions—be it graded or raw comics, video games, magazines, concert posters, trading cards, or whatever else makes your collection shine.

Let’s give some shout-outs to a few pioneers who have taken this on and embraced their public side.

Meet Aaron Lopez, AKA TheFunkySpider, sporting a commendable array of multi-era masterpieces, and what appears to be a NEW LIST? I didn't see that one when I first spoke to Aaron. Looks like he's clearly gearing up to make waves when he can be found by YOU on the site. Aaron has also provided links to his Instagram and X accounts. Pleasure to meet you, FunkySpider!

Or how about BigBadCollectibles, flaunting some very neatly arranged comic lists. I absolutely love seeing our site used to this potential. If I didn't know any better I'd say he was preparing to make a stand to win a badge (or three). I'm going to jump back in to this profile again and see if I can learn a thing or two.

Speaking of using the site to it's potential, a very big shout-out to Daniel Ludlow @danscoolpaper who has so much listed I can't even begin to show it all. But you can check it out for yourself by clicking the link above to his profile. Then you can immediately browse his branded collections, compare his books to your wants, cross-check the FMV, send him a DM, and THEN jump directly to his eBay Store to finalize any transactions. Perfect! Cut out all tedious searching between websites. Dan has all of the elements in place of how we can use this new feature - RIGHT NOW.

I'm going to show you how to do all of this below, in case it's a little overwhelming.

If you do end up on this list, I may give you a shout out in an upcoming blog to get people looking your way. For now, I want to be perfectly clear on how you can get people looking your way by using this new feature.

Note that there is no Landing Page and nothing will be 'discoverable' on the site for a short period of time while we allow for a HORDE of profiles to be publicly enabled and lists to be groomed. We're also working with feedback to create the sweetest UI/UX we can, and it just feels great to not be rushed this time of year!

Like I said, we have a lot of new content, announcements, and upgrades coming to a head as we round out 2024. For those of you who are in this game for the long haul and are ready to elevate your experience with us, getting started on this new feature is easy and exciting.

How to Do All of This + More

The most powerful feature of Public Lists right now is enabling and sharing.

  1. Head to Your Profile: This will take you to Account Settings—create your very own public URL.

  2. Choose to Use: Pick a Username and Enable Public Profile Page.

  3. Maximize Reach: While on that page, you can add a variety of content to tell us more about who you are. Fill out your Bio. Add an email address. Add direct links to whatever website you wish. That could be your eBay store, your Shopify - any place you want people to go. You can also lead them to all of your social pages by filling out whichever field applies to you.

Now We 2-Step Over To Your Collection

  1. Take Your LISTS Public: Head over to My Lists & Trackers and choose which lists you would like to make public by updating the visibility of a list. While you're at it, rename your list for public appeal, and move some items around to craft nested lists if you’re feeling fancy. You won't believe the amount of combinations our site allows you to play with once you get going.

  2. Show What You’ve Got: Go to your Profile Page now and you'll see it all unfold before you. You'll have everything that I showed you in the above profiles. At this moment you can either share your profile or share a list through the links to your socials, or copy and paste the URL anywhere your fellow collectors hang out. Let the world marvel at your treasures - assembled, organized, and valued on GoCollect.

We know what you’re thinking: “Can’t I just browse other people’s lists directly?” Not yet—but hold that thought.

Progress on Discoverability and Navigation

We’ve been working on a Landing Page that will soon serve as a collector’s paradise for discovering other profiles and Lists. Picture this space to possibly have some of these features:

  • Browse featured profiles (of course).

  • See the hottest/wildest/freshest Public Lists in countless categories.

  • Communicate with fellow collectors. Make deals. Play games. Win prizes.

This is just the beginning. Feedback from you (yes, YOU) will shape how we expand and refine this feature.

A Nod to Your Burning Questions + Some You Haven't Even Asked

We heard you loud and clear. Here’s what’s on your mind—and what we’re doing about it.

Q: How do others find my Public List(s)? How do I find theirs?
A: Right now, discoverability hinges on sharing links, or sharing the URL of your profile page. This is just Phase 1, and we’re actively working on in-platform discoverability, so stay tuned.

Q: Is this a step toward having a marketplace or a “For Sale” list?
A: More than a stepping stone. But our goal isn’t to mimic generic marketplaces—it’s to create something fresh, fun, and uniquely GoCollect. Features like marking items as “For Sale” or connecting lists to Watch/Want lists are on the horizon.

Q: Why?
A: Because this makes facilitating trades of very large or entire collections a breeze. Once we got started on that straightforward task, we realized we were onto something much bigger than we ever imagined—building a platform that connects collectors in ways that redefine the entire hobby.

Q: What else will we be able to do with our profiles?
A: This is where our Tech Team would usually tell me to go light, as I'm the guy who is typically vouching for unattainable heights! But we're all on the same page over here when we imagine customizable layouts, badges and recognition for milestones, full integrations with marketplaces, activity feeds to show off recent releases, additions, or sales. Profiles should evolve into hubs for showcasing, trading, networking, and beyond. And of course, we want you to be able to apply our Collectible Price Index, the CPI, to any and every list of your choosing.

Why You’ll Love What’s Next

Because you probably can't wait to jump into what I just mentioned! We’re working extremely hard to make GoCollect your go-to hub for everything collecting. This journey has already started on many paths. Soon they'll converge, and we want you to be in a position to have as much joy as possible as you continue to visit and trust in us.

Let’s hear from you! What features would make your collecting life even better? Drop a comment, share your feedback, and get to work on those profiles!
