Media Release -- The Cartoon Art Museum hosts cartoonist Knave Murdok on Saturday, August 20, 2011, from 1pm to 3pm, as part of its ongoing Cartoonist-in-Residence program. Museum visitors will be offered the chance to talk to Murdok about cartooning and view his work. This event is free and open to the public.
Knave Murdok is a cartoonist, and an educational multimedia experience for children. Join Knave on his adventures as he stumbles blindly through the impossible shapes of Hades! What fun! You can learn a lot from Knave as he suffers endlessly for his sins in a Hell of his own making, and is driven mad struggling to find the difference between creativity and madness, psychosis and enlightenment.
"On occasion, it seems as if this were all a dream, however, I have not yet awoken.
"It's my belief that as an artist there is nothing in the world that's so sacred that we can't laugh at it. If we lose our sense of humour, there's no way we'll ever move forward as a culture and a society. It is our duty to push the envelope further and further with each passing generation. If we are not doing that, then there is really no point at all to civilization.
"Some might mistake that for the rhetoric of an anarchist, but nothing could be further from the truth. I am in fact a very devout believer in God, or whatever name you wish to associate with this higher power. I believe that we were given free will by this benevolent creator, and that it would be an insult to that gift to not utilize it to its fullest.
"No one takes first passage over Knave Murdok
I am commander-in-chief in the army of fun!
I hold dominion over you all!
Here I am! Rock you like a hurricane!
I AM KNAVE MURDOK, AND I AM BOUNDLESS AND INVINCIBLE!!!"
