Diamond's Top 25 Toys for May 2013

Media Release -- Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy lives on with Square-Enix' The Dark Knight Trilogy Play Arts ~Kai~: Batman Action Figure, the best-selling toy product to comic book specialty retailers in May. Also in the top ten was the matching Dark Knight Trilogy Play Arts ~Kai~: Bane Action Figure at #4.

Diamond Select Toys had three products in the top ten — the Marvel Select: Nightcrawler Action Figure ranked #2, the Star Trek: The Original Series – USS Enterprise Cutaway Model ranked #6, and the Knight Rider: 1/15-Scale KITT ranked #10.

DC Collectibles had three products in the top ten as well — the Man of Steel: Superman 1/6-Scale Iconic Statue (based on the new film) ranked #3, the Green Lantern: Simon Baz Action Figure ranked #5, and the Batman: Black & White Statue by Mike Allred ranked #7.

Rounding out the top ten, Kotobukiya placed two products at the top of the charts, the Mass Effect: Commander Shepard Bishoujo Statue at #8 and the DC Comics: Aquaman "New 52" ArtFX+ Statue at #9.

Data for Diamond's sales charts – which include the monthly market shares and all top product charts – are compiled by Diamond Comic Distributors from a universe of over 3,500 accounts, comprised of comic book specialty shops and other merchant stores and buyers. The shops are primarily located in North America, with a percentage of sales also to international stores and buyers located throughout the world. The account base includes not only brick-and-mortar comic book specialty shops, but also Internet stores, chain stores, and other specialty stores.

Unit and dollars sales are calculated based upon orders invoiced and shipped to Diamond accounts during any given month, which comprises initial pre-orders, advance reorders, and reorders, minus any copies that are received back from a title marked as returnable.
