Hawkman is getting his day on the big screen in Black Adam, and it could lead to a bright future for the hero of Thanagar. Let's check out some Hawkman keys!

Carter Hall, aka Hawkman, will wield his spiked mace and fly on his wings to Khandaq to take on Black Adam this summer. When that day comes, it should lift Carter to new heights of mainstream popularity. That should have you waiting for his key issues to soar. On the bright side, not all his keys are classic Golden Age relics, and some are even affordable.

FLASH COMICS #1

The hardest part about collecting DC first appearances is that their most famous characters come from the Golden Age. As a matter of fact, they hail from deep within the GA. In the case of Hawkman, he debuted in 1940’s Flash Comics #1.

As if that alone wouldn’t make this an expensive comic, it also featured the first appearance of the original Flash, Jay Garrick. To a lesser extent, there are the premieres of Johnny Thunder and Hath-Set, an Egyptian priest and Hawkman’s first villain.

With these major first appearances, it’s no wonder even a 1.5 sold for $80,420 in March.

FLASH COMICS #2

By no means are you going to get this issue for a cheap price, but it beats the price tags for Flash Comics #1. Here, you get the second appearances of both the Golden Age Flash and Hawkman. As an added bonus, this also marked Hawkman’s first cover appearance.

You can have a graded 9.2 to call your own for the low price of $32,400. They’re practically giving them away at those values.

For most buyers, DC’s famous first Silver Age appearances are the healthy alternative to those high-priced GA keys. Sure, the SA firsts don’t have the same appeal, and they can have an aftertaste that stays with you for days, but they’re definitely better for your budget than the GA appearances.

Still, they’re not exactly cheap. Even a 3.5 sold for over $600 in March and $500 last month.

Hawkman keysBLACK ADAM #3 (2007)

Since Dwayne Johnson is the star of Black Adam, there’s no chance that he will be the villain of the movie. At least, he won’t be the villain by the end of the movie. Odds are, he will follow his comic roots as the dictator of Khandaq in the beginning, and that will pit him against the JSA members.

That could produce a poster moment when Black Adam and Hawkman square off, and that would send buyers on the hunt for Black Adam #3. Artist Doug Mahnke created the image of two DC heavyweights coming to blows for the 2007 cover. At the moment, you can find raw copies on eBay for around $20.

WATCHING LIKE A HAWK

With Black Adam establishing the JSA, Hawkman has bigger things ahead in the DCEU. Depending on the fan reception, he could have a larger role in a JSA spinoff movie. For that matter, he could star in his own spinoff HBO Max series set on Thanagar. That will make all his keys from the Golden Age to the Modern Era get a price bump.
