Marvel Universe Vs Wolverine #3Marvel Universe Vs Wolverine #3 Of 4
Marvel Comics
Maberry, Campbell & Loughridge

Wolverine is still trying to help save the world as more and more heroes fall to the plague. This is the big issue where everything falls apart for the heroes. I won't spoil which heroes turn or what happens to them but there is a lot of blood in this issue as you probably figured would eventually happen. Maberry continues to show a great command of Wolverine and his voice during a crisis like this. Overall, this continues to be a fun and entertaining read living up to the level of its predecessor.

When the dust settles the Thing and Spidey escape from Reed's lab. This brings about a decision for the others: what do they do now? Their lab is destroyed but Reed is convinced that he can still create some sort of inoculation for the virus before it spreads. Wolverine and The Punisher are assigned to safeguarding a bridge to New Jersey with a cast of other heroes while all of the supplies needed are shuttled to a new lab across the river. Can they hold the bridge?

The best example of the command that Maberry has for Wolverine's voice is when he is talking to the other characters about not giving up despite the fact that there is no longer a line between hero and villain. Juxtaposed against Wolverine's hysterical psych-up speech and Maberry manages to cover most of what makes this character so unique and great.

The issue is full of surprises including the characters at the end of the book and what happens to them. There is a big fight and there are plenty of goodies in that fight as Maberry provides some excellent usage of these characters. The ending is one of those "wow" moments.

Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle ReviewsThe artwork is excellent in this issue. The ending made the entire issue so much more entertaining because of the scale of the art. The make-up of the surprise characters and their actions are amplified perfectly by the artwork. This book is a horror book and the artwork pushes all the right buttons to make the reader cringe just enough to enhance the reading experience.

With only one issue left in this series we are getting down to the nitty-gritty. This issue pulls out all the stops as it plunges the remaining characters into unthinkable acts and impossible situations. This series is an excellent read and this issue is wall to wall entertainment. I can't wait for the ending – no matter how twisted it turns out to be. I highly recommend this book.
