Media Release -- There's a big Dark Shadows convention in Brooklyn, New York the 19th through 21st, and Hermes Press will be there, with our first two volumes of Dark Shadows: The Complete Original Series and the brand new Dark Shadows Story Digest. Since we're only going to be there Friday and Saturday, we've decided to make it up to all the DS fans by offering The Complete Series editions at 25% off-taking them from $50 to $37.
Dark Shadows: The Complete Original Series begins our lauded reprint series of the 1960s Gold Key Dark Shadows comics, with stories by Donald Arneson and Arnold Drake (the co-creator of Deadman and The Doom Patrol for DC Comics) and art by John Certa. Painstakingly brought back from the dead via digital reconstruction, each issue looking crisper than it did on the newsstand. Volume One represents the first seven issues, from 1968 through 1970, while Volume Two offers seven more issues from 1971 through 1972. Beyond that, each volume is chock full of production photos and include insightful essays.
The Dark Shadows Story Digest brings back an obscure illustrated novel from 1970; originally illustrated in two-tones, the Hermes Press edition of the Story Digest offers full color versions of the original. This long-lost tale, "Interrupted Voyage," follows Barnabas Collins on a time-travelling adventure to 17th century Salem!
The Dark Shadows Convention is being held at the New York Marriot Brooklyn Bridge at 333 Adams Street in Brooklyn, NY and starts this Friday (August 19th). More information on the weekend show, which features Dark Shadows luminaries such as Jonathan Frid (Barnabas) and Lara Parker (Angelique), can be found here.
