Welcome to the Hottest Pokémon cards of the month blog! Using sales data from eBay, GoCollect ranks the hottest Pokémon cards from anywhere from 10 days to a full year. It's important to note that the Hottest Pokémon index isn't based on how much a card sold for, but the actual number of cards that sold during the given timeframe, regardless of price.

With that in mind, let's take a look at several of hottest Pokémon cards that gained the most positions during the past month.

#1: Charmander (44/148) Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos

Published in 2023, the Charmander Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promo card was included in the promotion for the release of the Scarlet & Violet set. Because this card wasn't available in standard booster packs (it was part of a promotional release), there's limited supply which helped drive it to the top of GoCollect's hottest cards chart. It certainly helps that the Charmander, one of the original 151 Pokémon, eventually evolves into the mighty (and very popular) Charizard.

The number of sales for a PSA 10 copy of this card had been steadily been increasing reaching 222 sales in January 2025; since then the number of sales are still high but have leveled off:

Raw copies of this card typically sell for $26 to $40 on eBay.

#2: Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat (85/148) Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos

Another Black Star Promo card from the same set, Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat, took the second spot in the Hottest Pokémon cards during the past month (it ranked No 1 last month). This unique card was released in partnership with the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, and features Pikachu wearing the grey felt hat that Van Gogh wore in his self-portraits. With over 70,000 PSA graded copies, it has quickly become one of the most commonly graded copies ever.

In spite of the increase in supply of graded copies, this card is surging in value; the 30-day sales average $699 is nearly 2x its one-year average of $377. This PSA 10 copy sold for an impressive $729 on March 17th:

#3: Magneton (159/165) - Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos

Another Black Star Promo card, this Magneton card has risen one spot to third place in these rankings. Demand for this card is driven by its artwork by Shinji Kanda, one of the most popular artists in the Pokémon TCG community, and well-known for his frenetic style:

Similar to Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat, the number of sales for this card peaked a few months ago, but has started to tail off during the past two months. A PSA 10 sold for $200 on eBay on March 17th.

#4: Charizard ex (199/165) - 151

Down one spot to 4th place since last month, there would, of course, have to be at least one Charizard card on any hottest Pokémon cards list. The second most popular Pokémon after Pikachu, this particular Charizard card from the Scarlet & Violet 151 set was illustrated by miki kudo, a popular Pokémon artist. Released in 2023, PSA has already graded over 40,000 copies of this card. A PSA 10 copy of this card is surging in value with its 30-day average of $917, 62% higher than its one-year average of $568. This PSA 10 sold for $900 on eBay on March 17th:

#5: Ancient Mew (1/1) Miscellaneous Promos

The Ancient Mew Miscellaneous Promos card made a big leap to 5th place (up nine from 14th last month). Not available in standard booster packs, this Ancient Mew Miscellaneous Promos card was released as a promotional card in theaters in conjunction with the release of Pokémon: The Movie 2000. For that reason, adult Pokémon collectors today view this card as a nostalgic reminder of their childhood. With nearly 50,000 PSA graded copies, a PSA 10 has been steadily rising in value with the 30-day sales average of this card ($657) exceeding both its 90-day ($605) and one-year averages ($453).
