A new rumor is fueling New X-Men #114 speculation as social media leakers are certain Cassandra Nova is coming to Deadpool 3.

The latest Deadpool 3 gossip once again concerns Emma Corrin. Having garnered attention with an award-winning performance in The Crown, the actor was added to the Deadpool 3 cast last year. The exact role remains a mystery, but that’s only been kindling for the rumor mill. After first being rumored to play Danger, gossip sites are now reporting that Corrin will play Cassandra Nova. Created by famed writer Grant Morrison, she has an origin story so outrageous it’s downright comedic, which is perfect for Deadpool 3

While Charles Xavier was still just a bun in his mother’s oven, a mummudrai swept in from the astral plane. This bodiless spirit duplicated Charles’ DNA and formed its own body inside the womb. In what may be Marvel’s first fetus battle, Cassandra tried to strangle Charles with his mother’s umbilical cord. Even as an unborn baby, Professor X was kicking ass. He launched a psychic attack that seemingly killed his “sister.” Really, it only pissed her off. She spent years reforming her body in the sewers of New York City, plotting her revenge on Charles.

If that’s not a sequence worthy of a Deadpool movie, there is no such thing. That being said, it makes sense why buyers are stockpiling Cassandra’s first appearance.

NEW X-MEN #114

Based solely on rumors, buyers have been sweeping eBay for Cassandra’s debut in New X-Men #114. As soon as the speculation dropped online, this issue rocketed into the top 20 Hottest Comics and continues to climb…for now.

As part of the actors’ strike, union members are not allowed to promote upcoming projects. That could keep Ryan Reynolds and the rest of the Deadpool 3 crew from making any official announcements until the strike is resolved. By the looks of things, that’s not going to be anytime soon. In the world of comic book collecting, news gets old fast.

The Cassandra Nova rumor will become outdated in short order, and buyers will turn their attention to hotter keys. Keep that in mind before you buy a copy at inflated prices.

NEW X-MEN #125

It was here that readers learned Cassandra’s true origins as a mummudrai. Of course, it was tied to the Shi’Ar, who revealed that she is actually a bodiless creature that copied Xavier’s DNA while he was still gestating in the womb. Later, it was further explained that Cassandra is actually from the astral plane.

Origin comics don’t typically earn big values, but as New X-Men #114’s price balloons, this is a healthy alternative for those on tight budgets.

ASTONISHING X-MEN #9

Before buyers got excited for New X-Men #114, there was the mad grab for Astonishing X-Men #9.

Since Corrin was added to the cast, there has been speculation that Danger would be getting her live-action spotlight. Theorists based this on Reynolds holding a copy of AXM #9 in the Deadpool 3 teaser trailer. Up to that point, it had been an overlooked collectible, but speculators and investors gave it added emphasis due to Danger’s first appearance.

Who is she? That is the sentient form of Cerebro that built its own mechanical body. Once in human form, Danger was hellbent on murdering the X-Men.

THROWING STRIKES

Who would have thought the actor’s strike would have such implications for comic book collecting and investing? Nothing puts a damper on the rumor mill, but there won’t be many confirmations until it’s over. As we know, those movie announcements are the biggest influencers on the secondary market.

Without official news on castings and whatnot, the sales will be more dependent on gossip, and that should have things in constant flux. On the plus side, it will keep things interesting as we are seeing with the Deadpool 3 scuttlebutt.
