After three full years, the greatest Comic-Con on the planet, the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) finally returns on Wednesday night, July 20th! While SDCC covers the gamut of pop culture, for comic book investors like us, we'll be listening intently to what Kevin Feige has to say in Hall H. Three years ago, Feige blew our minds away when he announced the likes of Thor: Love & Thunder, Blade, WandaVision, and Loki.

After three years, what does Feige have up his sleeve?

I expect Feige will make some big announcements about Fantastic Four and X-Men, but I'm going to focus on books that most investors can afford, including three books related to Black Panther and Secret Invasion.

Black Panther #2

Considering that Disney will release the long-awaited Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on November 11th, I expect that we'll see some footage of the film, if not the release of the teaser trailer. This film will answer a question that comic book investors have been asking for years: who will succeed the late and great Chadwick Boseman as the next Black Panther?

Some have speculated that it will be Michael B. Jordan's Killmonger, Winston Duke’s M’Baku, or even Lupita Nyongo’s Nakia that will become the next Black Panther. I think most expect that Shuri will become the next Black Panther.

If so, it may be a good time to purchase her first appearance in Black Panther #2. Just ten months ago, a CGC 9.8 copy of this book reached its all-time high of $1,127. It has since lost over 60% of its value with a recent sale of $440. If we do learn that Shuri becomes the next Black Panther, expect this book to recoup at least some of its lost value. Even if that does happen, I doubt this book will crack $1,000 in the near future, but I could see it rise 50% in value in the near-term.

Mighty Avengers #13 and Secret Warriors #1

Announced way back in December 2020, it's about time that we hear an update about Secret Invasion at SDCC. The book most collectors have focused on is New Avengers #40, the first appearance of Veranke, the Skrull Queen. But there are two cheap books that have fallen off of most people's radar: Mighty Avengers #13 and Secret Warriors #1. When Fury realizes that Skrulls have invaded Earth, he recruits an obscure group of heroes, the Secret Warriors, to defend it.

Mighty Avengers #13 contains the first appearances of the Secret Warriors, including Phobos, Hellfire, Stonewall, and others. You can find high-grade raw copies of this book on eBay for just over $10. Your best bet is spending around $30 on a raw copy of the second print of this book that features the Secret Warriors along with Fury on its cover.

Another great speculation book related to Secret Invasion is Secret Warriors #1. Although this team shares the same name as the team described above, it's roster consists of Quake, Ms. Marvel, Moon Girl, and Devil Dinosaur. Considering that we just saw Ms. Marvel in her own show and that Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur are receiving their own animated series, it would be this version of the team that appears in Secret Invasion. If that's the case, it's a steal at its current value of $65 on eBay for a CGC 9.8 copy.
