Uncanny X-Men #130 is booming all because of Taylor Swift. There’s a sentence I didn’t expect to type today.

Swift really is a worldwide force. Whether it’s her legions of Swifties shutting down Ticketmaster, her Eras concert tour setting mind-blowing attendance records, or simply being the biggest pop star on the planet, Swift’s influence can be felt far and wide. It would seem that also extends to comic book collecting.

Swifties are squealing with delight at the latest Deadpool 3 rumor that claims the megastar will make an appearance as Dazzler. To the surprise of none, it’s caused a stir for those dazzling X-Men keys.

UNCANNY X-MEN #130

Ever since the first rumors that Swift would bring Dazzler back to live action way back in 2016, most fans have agreed that she’s a fitting choice. After all, Dazzler is the mutant pop star with the power to turn sound waves into light and energy beams. Complete with roller skates, she was the disco-themed superhero stemming from a cross-promotion between Marvel and Casablanca Records.

The trouble was, disco had already peaked when UXM #130 hit store shelves in 1980. Maybe Dazzler was a bit late to the disco party, but she has endured 43 years later.

DAZZLER #1

There’s no collecting those Dazzler keys without digging for a copy of her first self-titled comic. Published in 1981, the initial idea was for her to star in a movie, but Marvel couldn’t land a deal with a movie studio.

If Swift does cameo as Dazzler in Deadpool 3, that could possibly lead to solo projects. In that event, all her keys will become that much more valuable.

UNCANNY X-MEN #214

It’s easy to dismiss Dazzler as simply a cash-grab project capitalizing on the disco wave, but don’t forget that she is a card-carrying member of the X-Men. Although she debuted in UXM #130, she officially joined the team seven years later. With her history being tied to the X-Men, this is an affordable key issue that belongs in any Dazzler collection.

IT’S ALL ABOUT THE CAMEOS

Could this lead to Swift starring in a Dazzler movie or Disney Plus show? That’s doubtful.

The MCU’s Phases Four and Five are more about the potential cameos and Easter eggs than the actual movie plots. Much has been said regarding Marvel’s dip in quality as of late, and this is one of the problems.

With all the gossip of multiple celebrity appearances for Deadpool 3, it makes me curious if it’s all a joke pointing out Marvel’s obsession with A-list cameos. For that matter, Marvel has no problem trolling fans by teasing major characters only to throw them away as we saw in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Considering the Deadpool crew’s reputation, all these rumored cameos could be included in one massive scene with only a glimpse of the stars…just before Deadpool murders them all and erases them from the official MCU timeline. After all, Deadpool has killed the entire Marvel Universe in the comics, so why not on the silver screen as well?
